OK, you can believe if you want to. I didn't know if I did, but I was willing to give it a try.
We listed our house and put a statue of St. Joseph on the mantle of our home. The first people who came were planning to buy the house for their son, who was subsequently killed in a firey car crash in our small town.
The house showed only twice again before we had to move to our new city.
The movers packed our stuff, and I noticed when unpacking that St. Joseph somehow came with us. I put him on my mantle of my new home, said my daily prayers, and waited. Nothing happened.
For two months, St. Joseph sat here at my house in Dallas. The house didn't have a single second showing. I have been paying two mortgage payments plus utilities for three months straight. That's not easy when your new salary is little more than half of what it was before. St. Joseph's being here just wasn't working. I decided to send him back to Mississippi with a friend who came to visit. I asked my friend to bury him near the front door of the house. I kissed the little guy good-bye, packed him in a zippy bag, and sent him on the 8-hour trip.
The day after he arrived in Mississippi, a couple saw our home and really liked it. The husband was offered a job the next day, and they came back to see the house a second time. The couple made an offer on the house, and so I called my friend to be sure he buried St. Joseph. He had forgotten to do it.
We submitted a counter offer the following morning. The couple never responded. We waited 4 days. The deal finally fell thru last night, and we gave up on our realtor, whose listing had expired on Tuesday.
Then magically, today, the buyers had a change of heart and accepted our original counter-offer. They also agreed to close in a time frame that would keep us from having to make another payment.
When I called my friend to tell him what happened, he told me he buried St. Joseph on Wednesday night.
So. The moral of the story: If you're a believer, St. Joseph can help you out with the sale of your house. You have to bury him though. You can't put him on the mantle. And you have to give him 24-36 hours. He'll come thru every time.
