I smell like bacon...

BLT's for dinner tonight. Yum! However, bacon smells are permeating my entire household.

How do people cook bacon? No matter how I do it, it stinks - so I cook bacon very rarely. I have had some luck with the George Forman, but for some reason I decided to use a regular frying pan. Maybe I should plug the GF in out on the deck. Or maybe somehow use the BBQ?

I put it in the oven on a lined cookie sheet.. of course I love the smell of bacon meat candy!

I love the smell of bacon! I'm sure there is a candle that smells like bacon out there somewhere - I'd like to own that.

I have been using the pre-cooked stuff! Always good, always nice strips and NO MESS and the cost is the same. then I just warm it in the microwave.

When I used to cook it I always used the microwave on paper towels. It makes way to much mess on the stove.

I fry mine up in a frying pan on the stove and then leave the windows open for a while. The smell doesn't completely disappear for a few days, but that's ok.

Actually, bacon cooks real well in the BBQ. I learned this after a hurricane when we were without electricity. I took some aluminum foil (2 layers) and placed it on the grill, put the bacon on that and cooked it. The bacon came out crispy and perfect!

My dh gets out the propane camping stove to cook the bacon outside whenever we have BLT's. This is because the house smells like bacon for DAYS if we cook it inside.

Yum! The smell of bacon always makes me feel like I'm camping...

I've done the oven, microwave, and stovetop versions. Seems like in order of "lingering," it goes: microwave, stovetop, oven. But the odor seems to dissipate fairly quickly -- probably because the whole family (and dog) are inhaling it as fast as possible!

Anybody else ever from Bacon P.J. Syndrome? You get up in the A.M. and cook breakfast while wearing your pj's, or you're in the kitchen while bacon is being cooked. That evening, when you go to put pj's back on, they reek of bacon. I distinctly remember this growing up.

seriously if you hate the smell lingering you should get the pre-cooked.

You will have no lingering smell at all. OK if you heat a lot of it the Micro may smell for a bit but not long and the house won't at all past a few minutes. and if you don't heat it like my son, it won't smell at all.

After cooking bacon, I clean up the stove with a dish towel with some vinegar on it. Also put some vinegar on a clean towel and and wave it around the room to get the smell out. There will be some vinegar smell but it won't last.

I buy the pre-cooked. My dad thinks I'm nuts (and always cooks some the "right" way for DS when we're there) but it's just so much more convenient!
