hi all,
i did something not so smart today,in fact it was very dumb.we are booked with delta for feb to mco.i orginally booked a 8 am flight, which around 3 weeks ago was canceled.no one even called or e-mailed me to tell me this.they rebooked me on a 8 pm flight.this is way to late for me and i did'nt want to miss a day at wdw.so i called them when i found out 3 weeks ago and explained to them it was way to late for me.the rep on the phone was very rude, and i mean very rude. and i quote"well sir you booked your self at 8 pm not us,but i will try to change it.WHAT??no, i booked 8 am and have the confirmed e-mail with the date and time at 8 am to prove it.you canceled the flight and rebooked me and no one even tried to contact me to tell me this."well sir the flight has been canceled for a month now,so no one even brothered to tell me or e-mail me for a month long to tell me my flight is canceled.i could deal with this and kept my cool and re booked for the same day at a noon flight.
fast foward tonight,i'm looking at thier website and guess whats missing?my flight at noon again.so i call i figure that it was just booked solid and thats it.well guess what has been canceled.this noon flight.guess what now i have been moved to a 10 pm flight for that night.so i call again.this person the rep on the phone was very nice and kept saying how sorry she was.she had to transfer me to someone else.this other person was once again rude.i was told there is nothing else for that day but 8 pm or 10 pm."oh wait sorry you said you were 3 right?" yes we are. than all i have is 10 pm,the 8 pm flight only has 2 seats left??? Is it me??first i can't see how they only have the 10 pm flight avail.second this is the second time this has happened to me and thats 2 too many.
so what does mr brain surgon do?after i got this flight for 89 dollars each way while every other airline and flight has prices up to 300 per way per person for the same week, even delta fares are now in the 250 mark.i was nice to the rep.but made it clear if this 10 pm flight was my only choice,i wanted to cancel now!and i expect a full refund.no problem and i canceled and got a full refund.so now what? i refuse to spend $1500 dollars to go in feb.so unless a great sale come's out i'm gonna have to call my trip in feb offically canceled. :guilty: i should have kept my mouth shut and looked at the day before or after for a early morning flight.i was just so fustratied all i could think of to do was cancel.yep i showed them did'nt i?i bet the money they just lost form me has them going hungry.i can see the in fllight anoccement tommorow."ladies and gentelmen we like to welcome you aboard delta airlines,we like to first say how sorry we are but todays flight we will not be serving any snacks or drinks,as well we ask you to please try to conserve toielt paper.we were counting on a fare from mrFDNY and family to help us buy these things for our flight today well he canceled, and we just don;t have the money to buy it,sorry. hey what would you passengers perfer, soda and snacks and fresh toielt paper or gas for the engine?thats what we thought, and always thank you for chosing delta. :rotfl:

so i did it i canceled to show them!I'm just not sure what i showed them? have a great day all.

Wow! That is incredible! I actually got a phone call from Southwest when the flight I booked was discontinued and was offered any other flight of the day. I flew Delta a year ago and had so many problems with them (lost luggage that I was not contacted about when it finally arrived, very long delay, missed connection, no helpful staff, changed gates 3x, all in one trip... ugh) I have vowed to never fly them again.
I think you cancelling with them was the best thing you could do for your family! :Pinkbounc

Yup,Seems like anybody with a Delta reservation better keep a close eye on their flights because good ole Delta Airlines does NOT notify people when they cancel your flight. It was three weeks out and I was just checking to see what time my flights were scheduled for and low and behold Delta cancelled my flight back home out of Atlanta that evening and never contacted me in any way, shape or form. Something I did not want to see 3 weeks before my trip.I also cancelled my whole ticket and rebooked on another airline.I will NEVER book with Delta Airlines again....

I love Song, I really do, but this constant 'tweaking' is driving me nuts. I do expect them to fine tune...especially when I book around the 331 day window. But my flights in late Nov keep changing constantly. I had to sit on hold with them for 15 minutes yesterday just to 'reconfirm' my seat assignment. So, what big change did they have?? The arrival time changed by 5 minutes. Rather than landing in Boston at 5:05, we land at 5:10...for that I had to sit there. If this keeps up, they will end up sending me to JetBlue and since I do like to have my flights as early as possible for the cheaper fares, that is not going to sit well.

That's a weird story! Of course, they could have gone to the other extreme like American Airines did several weeks ago. My husband had a flight out in the afternoon, and they called us (on a Saturday) at about 4:30 AM to let us know that the flight was being delayed. I don't know about you, but when our phone rings at that hour, the adrenaline starts pumping, as we automatically fear the worst! I'd hate to be the agent in charge of making those calls!

mr FDNY,
Wow... That is really frustrating! Have you considered flying on SWA out of Islip or is that too far for you? SWA has not released their seats for the latter part of Feb, so they should have plenty of availability when they do open... I was just looking at the fares they have for non-stop flights at the end of Jan (since they don't have anything past Feb3rd) and they OW promotional fare was $79.00 (plus taxes, et'c) or $176.90 RT with everything added in...

A similar thing happened to my brother and SIL for our November trip. They called and were able to get their flight switched from LGA to JFK to get a better flight time. Honestly I wouldn't expect them to notify people of flight changes this early. They can change another 5 times between now and February.

And the big problem is that there likely would have been at least ONE more change in schedules between now and Febuary so something you like might have opened up.

Airlines contact you in order of your FLIGHT. So, if you have a change to a Febuary flight don't expect them to contact you soon. They will eventually, but they contact in flight order so those first effected get contacted first. Also, if you used a TA (and Expedia and Travelocity are considered TAs) they contact your TA. However, the general rule is that some of the on line TAs will NEVER contact you! (AAA has also proven to be fairly lax in contacting passengers. I now monitor my mother's Europe packages carefully!)

well all this changing actually just worked in my favor! I was suppose to be flying out of Hartford in December....was a better fare than flying out of Boston! I wasn't really looking forward to driving to Hartford as I am not as familar with the drive and it is about 30 minutes farther than Boston. When I saw that my outbound flight was now a 7 a.m. versus a 8:15 I was concerned. I called Song and told them my circumstances....asked if I could fly out of Boston instead and they said "no problem"!!! So I am now on a 8:15 out of Boston and I get an extra hour in WDW on the return!! Now...if only these flight would stay put! :teeth:

It sounds we have the same flight on different days. I go in early Nov. First the outbound flight changed by 10 minutes then the return flight changed by a few minutes. Then the returnflight number changed. I don't care about the slight time change but why do we have to reconfirm our seats? Even if we could do it online it would be fine but having to call is a pain.

Spirit has chaged my flight time 2 times now and has called me both times and left a message. And that was only for a 10 min. change. It's weird how some companys are so different!! Good Luck!!

After reading all of the posts, I checked my December flights with Independence. Well, they changed the time on the outgoing flight and my return flight has been cancelled. I was not notified of any changes.

And as I read these posts, I am so grateful that SWA posts a schedule and KEEPS to it unless mechanical or weather problems kick up.

I agree this reconfiming my seats is a pain! If we could do this online it would be so much more simple.

These have been my experiences with Delta/Song so far:

2 yrs. ago Song direct flight was cancelled never notified then moved to a Delta flight not good hrs. for us. I called had a rude CSR who really didn't offer any helpful solutions to the problem. I was upset almost cancelled the flights but hung up instead to regroup...didn't want to loose my excellent price. Called again got a great CSR who walked me through my options and settled on a Delta flight w/connection semi-decent hrs. kept great rate as the flight cancel was Delta's not mine so no increase in fare.

Spring forward to now....Made reservations in June for Jan. 06 flight on Song. The flight has had 6 changes made to it and each time I must call and reconfirm the seat assignments. I found the changes...I was never notified by Song about them. I really didn't expect to be. I had not been contacted 2 yrs. ago when my flight was cancelled 2wks. before the trip so I just always keep track of my flights less stress for me that way.

After 6 calls this is what I have learned from them:

Song flights should keep the same seat assignments if there has been a time change because the actual aircraft doesn't change (Song uses the same type of plane for all of their flights so there is no difference in the seat configuration)

If the flight has been cancelled then you may loose your original seat assignments if they move you to an all ready booked flight where your specific seats are assigned to another flyer so you can't have them. If your original seats from the cancelled flight are open on the new flight they will assign those to you but you still need to call to have it show up on your itinerary.

All bets are out the window if they move you from a Song flight to a Delta flight because the plane configuration will most likely not match your original seat assignement so you really need to be quick on the draw to try to get seats you think you might like.

Bottom line for me:

I check on line every day to see what changes may have been made then call to reconfirm the seat assignments if a change has happened. It only takes a couple of minutes to check this and I feel better knowing what is up. Most of the changes have taken place on a Sat./Sun. to the schedule but I still check daily because who really knows anymore?!!!

I would suggest people stay proactive on Delta/Song changes. If flight times and seat assignments are important to you (and they are to most people) keep checking on a regular basis to make sure you are keeping somewhere close to what you wanted in the first place.

Happy flying to us all! :flower:
