I shouldn't moan but I will!!

Hubby has been promoted and I am very proud of that fact BUT it means we have to leave Oman after being here for nearly six years and move to Abu Dhabi.

Oman is my second home and has been our first overseas posting so will be sad to leave here and the fact that we just moved into a new house in July complete with our very own swimming pool. Great for the poolside cocktails.

Anyway Oman is a bit sleepy so there will be more to do in Abu Dhabi, better shopping, now got the F1 and have lots of concerts and best of all just an hours drive from Dubai

I feel awful having a moan about it when I really have nothing to moan about. I am sure the excitement will kick in after Christmas.

Sadie, having spent the majority of my life as the daughter or wife of someone in the Armed Forces, I know what it's like to have to move, particularly when you finally feel settled somewhere. If you're anything like me, though, you will welcome the change and the excitement will kick in fairly soon.

I am the opposite now - I am getting itchy feet and desperate to move after nearly nine years here but DH is adamant we are never moving again

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

You get used to a place and the starting all over again seems daunting. That is the expat life I suppose. I am a get up and go kind of person so will hopefully get on well in Ab Dabs.

I won't be moving until the end of January as our daughter is coming for her holidays 5th January for 3 weeks, haven't seen her since mid October so getting quite excited about that. First Christmas without her but being 18 it is more important I suppose to be doing things with your friends and this is her first works Christmas night out so when she said she wanted to stay in Scotland I didn't have the heart to say no.

Will keep you posted, meantime I have just mixed a strawberry daiquri well it is the start of our weekend here.
