Hello fellow members....my wife and I were on the December 07 Magic cruise....we attended the member presentation and they gave us cards to give out to people for referrels....we talked it up and 2 people we spoke with....one our dinner partners and another we just met and told them about the club....they both bought into the vacation club....and that was it....so last month I called the vacation club rep Roland and spoke with him about the fact we have not heard anything....first referrel is 200...second 150....
He could not understand why we had not heard anything but according to his records only 1 person bought into the DVC....he said give him 2 weeks and he would have it all straightend out....well....over a month later....nothing....and I feel funny calling again and asking what is going on...kind of makes you wonder what is going on.....has anyone had the same problem? Has anyone had the system work the way it should? What you think I should do?

Thanks for listening and letting me vent!
Tom

I would sure call! You did your part, now DVC should do theirs!!! However, if the people who bought in didn't mention your name (or didn't until after the fact), you won't get a referral credit. I know when we went on our tour, my BIL/SIL are DVC members. We said right up front that we were referred by them and our guide took all of their information (and possibly looked up their member number). When we signed the paperwork, we listed it again.

Hopefully, the folks that signed up did the same thing with their guide. Seriously, though, I would call! :thumbsup2

Good luck!:goodvibes

Do you live in a State that allows you to receive a referral gift? We live in Texas and it's against the law because we are not licensed in Texas as Real Estate Agents.

That state issue was one I was going to mention too. Also, the person buying has to give the referal information to the sales agent.

The first referral is $200, the second is $350. So if the people mentioned your referral right away when they met with their guide, you should be entitled to $550 in incentives. The biggest problem with the referral system is that the person has to mention you in the very first meeting or call with DVC. If they had already met with a guide on the ship or have ever called or toured DVC in the past, the referral is null and void.

This happened to us. I gave my friends name and she never recieved anything so when i called ms they said i took the tour years ago and that the referral was void.

Even if you are in a state that doesn't allow you to receive a referral gift, you will still get a thank you letter. I live in PA so I can not get any referral gifts, but I have gotten letters thanking me for my referrals.. Not as good as cash, but its recognition none the less.

I know the feeling. We referred 3 couples who all bought. About a month or so later we called our guide and he said that it was becaue we live in PA. I asked if he knew this ahead of time and he said yes. It kind of get heated on the phone. He should have told me that ahead of time. I haven't spoken to him since.

Spoke to Roland today....and he knew about my posting on the site....they read the Disboards....he is taking care of it....we'll see....this is my last phone call about it though....I will let you guys know how I made out!

I am a new member to the DVC and was looking at this issue on the DVC member site and I came accross this:
"Eligible State" is any state that permits rewarding Members for their participation in the Program. Current eligible States are: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Puerto Rico also is an eligible jurisdiction. DVD reserves the right to add or remove Eligible States as business and legal circumstances allow.

The member site has PA listed as an eligible state for referrals. Like I said I am new to the DVC so I am not sure if this is new or a typo.

it must be new. I was referred to this before and PA was not on it.

I have no idea why PA is listed on that list. I saw that list a few weeks ago and I sent the link to my DVC rep. He looked into it and verified that PA was not an eligible state. He told me to cross the boarder and move to NJ because they are eligible! :sad2:

I notice Maine is on that list, too, but we aren't allowed to get any rewards, we've only gotten thank you letters.

Well fellow DVC members....all is good. Spoke to Roland on Wednesday, and today the sharing the magic was on the web site. They credited me for 1 referrel....so half a loaf is better than none. Roland jumped right on it and I appreciate that!

Hopefully, whoever called him and said I was saying "bad things" about him on the DISboards will now call him and tell him I said something nice.
