I set up my amazonsmile account to donate to Give Kids the World.

I never knew about amazonsmile before until now. So when I purchase something on there site they will give 0.5% of my purchase price to the charity I choose. So I choose Give Kids the world. I'm hoping others will to.

Great. We have been doing that for a long time. You don't generate a lot individually but if everyone does it, the amounts can really add up. Since signing up, our orders have generated $10.91 but the total raised through the program for GKTW is $30,425. The Amazon Smile program overall has generated almost $98 million for charities.

Yes, hopefully your message will get others who don't do it to start. I've been doing it, thanx to the Team making me aware of it, and GKTW in general, for years now, but I always tell friends who I know order from Amazon. Very easy way to help.

Something to keep in mind with AmazonSmile is it is web only. If you buy anything on their app it will not be a smile purchase. Unless it is something I need immediately and I'm on the road I use the app to place what I need in my cart then go to the web and complete the purchase through smile.

@GreatLakes - Okay, I did not know that part - thank you for telling me! Don't use the app a lot, but will do exactly what you suggested if I do!

If you use Google Chrome as your web browser, there is a Chrome extension available called SmileAlways which will redirect you to amazon smile if you type in the regular Amazon address.

Thanks for mentioning GKTW. I've been looking to change my charity since I moved last year, but I didn't know GKTW was part of Amazon Smile. Changing now.

For those that shop via the mobile app, there’s a simple little work-around that will allow you to use AmazonSmile. These instructions are for the iPhone but the process is very similar to Android.

1. Open Safari on iPhone and visit the Amazon Smile website: smile(dot)amazon(dot)com

2. Login with your amazon account info.

3. Click the “Share” icon at the bottom of the Safari screen and select “Add to Home Screen”

4. Now just click that icon on your home screen to shop via Amazon Smile just like you would the regular Amazon App. (You may also want to delete the original Amazon App so you don’t use it accidentally!)

Easy peasy!

Also, remember that even if you shop via your desktop computer, you MUST go to the Amazon Smile website for your purchases to count. Ordering from the regular Amazon website does not earn the benefits. Bookmark smile(dot)amazon(dot)com to make it easier.

I do wish it was a higher % but that is still $53 that they did not have before and did cost you anything more than you would have paid anyway. So win win

So we can see that ever little order that is made through AmazonSmile for this charity is worth it.
