OK, so I'm jumping the gun a little bit because hubby is still dragging his feet for our WDW trip in 32 days but I am planning (in my head) a DL trip in 2 years, when Cars Land opens. Well, a few months after when hopefully the crowds have calmed and kids are back in school (we home school so we can do an extra week in the summer to make up for a week out in September, gotta love that!).

Anyway, so many questions. I've done DL once with friends. I was visiting friends who lived in Castaic, CA and we did DL for a day (among other things, they took me on a full state tour in 8 days, including San Fransisco, camping in Yosemite, Magic Mountain, etc... it was wild!). I've never stayed AT DL, though.

There are so many things to ask and I'm sure they've all been asked before so if anyone has any good links or quick tips to posts about transportation from good neighbor hotels, whether or not the dining plans are worth while and how many days we need (I'm thinking 3 days--one devoted JUST to Cars Land since we have a McQueen addict among us, and then one for each of the parks). Any other basic tips or links to basic tips are much appreciated.

I have family out there so we'd probably do 3 days at Disney and then 3 or 4 days with my uncle and do some of the other west coast stuff, Universal, tourist stuff, maybe drive up to San Fransisco. I don't know, i have two years to plan but this idea is so tempting. However, I know I can't present it to my hubby until I have all the facts in place! :)

Welcome to the DLR board! :cheer2:

Here are some links:

1. Hotel links

* DLR Info/Links - Maps, Hotels, DISer Reviews, Hydroguy's tips, NEWBIE INFO here!

plus lots of links here - "HydroGuy's Hotel Rule" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1199862

2. Dining Plan - works differently than WDW and almost no one around here uses it.

3. How many days - you can have fun with three but four days will be better - especially after Little Mermaid and CarsLand opens.

Thanks so much, incredibly helpful! I didn't see the Anaheim Quality Inn listed on your thing and it came up on the Disneyland page as a good neighbor hotel. Is there a reason you don't list it? I like the price and it looks like walking distance based on Google Earth but am I totally off on this?

There are just so many local hotels one cannot list them all very well. The links I gave are mostly maps. The "sticky link" is just what Mary Jo (a forum moderator here) has put together. No knock on QI or any other local hotel. :goodvibes
