I bought 6 day PHP at the Disney store for our trip. DH wanted 7 day passes. Can I upgrade these at the gate OR are they going to charge me the $22 each, I saved by pre-purchasing at the store?

Also, my daughter is 9 this trip. If we don't use all the days, how much will it be to upgrade a child's pass to an adult pass? She will be 11 on our next trip.

THANKS FOR THE HELP!!! :wave2:

I had to pay just the difference between Disney gate price for 6 and 7 days. It's been a couple of years, but I have read that hasn't changed.

At this time Disney doesn't punish a ticketed child for growing up (although I read somewhere that at least half the ticket has to be used..I'm not sure if that is tue, since I have only heard it once and our tickets only had a day left), and when you go back, they will look at the ticket record (at guest services) and upgrade it at no charge to an adult,

Thanks DMRick. DH will be thrilled. :) We had discussed taking 2 days 'off', so I bought 6 day.

I think we won't use the 7th day, but I'll upgrade at the gate anyways. :) It will just save us some $ next trip. :)

Also, thanks for the info on the child to adult ticket transfer. :) If we do have that day left, the info will be handy.

Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!! :)

You will pay the difference between what you paid and the gate price at Disney. So, yes, you will lose the savings that you had with a prepurchase.

You will pay the difference between what you paid and the gate price at Disney.

When did they change that? Someone posted just a month or so ago, that they got the difference between the two gate prices, even though they had been told differently on this board.

And we often buy our tickets from GE employee plan, and they only have up to 5 day with no pluses (I said 6 before, but I actually went and looked this time). Our charge to upgrade, has always just the difference between the two gate prices. We have never been penalized for buying at a discount.
We also got our AP's at the DS in the airport. We discussed upgrading to the AP with pluses (that was a year ago) and the price quoted was again the diff between the two gate prices. Is this something new?
Have you more recently tried this Gail? Has anyone? We'll be trading in a 5 day on our next trip, and want to know for sure, if this has changed.

Has anyone had any experience with changing the kids tickets. I've got a 6 day all in one hopper (from 5 yrs ago) that could be used for parks (not AK though) and H2O parks too hopping... I was hoping to upgrade it for son instead of passing it on to daughter who's not into water... we've got 3(I think) days left on it.. wonder how'd they upgrade it. Also have a 7 day hopper plus with 3 or 4 days left (kids) wonder if they'll charge to have it changed since son's now 10.

They will not charge you to change it for your now 10 year old son.
It is not cost effective to upgrade old passes. You can upgrade the pass to an adult pass at no charge, if it has been used.

If you pay advanced purchase price and then upgrade it at the gate you are going to pay the difference between the advanced purchase price and the gate price. They are not going to give you an advance purchase price for something you did not purchase in advance.

As to your scenario I would advise you to read this link. It explains it far better than I can. http://allearsnet.com/pl/ticket.htm#9

Sometimes people get CM's who will handle it that way when they are upgrading to extra days (like a 5 day PHP to a 7 day PHP) but they are the exception rather than the rule. What were you upgrading to?

No, in this case it's easy. Only Disney sells AP's and PAP's. They are the same price no matter where you buy them (WDW gate, TDS, CRO, airport, etc) even if you used a DC discount. So the cost to upgrade between the two is constant. It's the difference in price between them. There are no variable factors.

Just like all things Disney, it will depend on who you get doing the transaction. But you can count on this: when you upgrade a ticket bought at a discount from an outside source (like your GE plan or a ticket wholesaler) and you want to upgrade to a Disney-only ticket like an AP/PAP, you will not get credit for the gate price in doing the upgrade.
