We have about 18 -20 kids that live on my street. I have been living on this street for 10 years, and with the only exception of my kids, and my next door neighbor's kids, I have NEVER seen kids playing outside before. I see them walking to school or possibly standing around and talking, but NEVER actually playing outside.

Two kids were actually having a catch with a football.

Will wonders ever cease? ;)

AMAZING!! Let's hope we all see more of it.

My sister lives in a neighborhood in North Carolina and she has never seen kids play outside! she sees them waitiing for the school bus but thats it. Maybe this will start a trend!

I'm always amazed when I read this. We have all kinds of kids that play outside in our neighborhood. For years we had a front yard full of dead grass from all the touch football games. The kid down the street has a great basketball goal and there are always lots of neighborhood kids down there playing and there are always kids riding their bikes down the street.

Same here in Charlotte, NC. The neighborhoods are CRAWLING with kids playing outside. We actually went to look at one house when we were buying and turned it down because it was in a cul-de-sac and there were like 20 kids playing in the street in front. We decided we didn't want to deal with that all the time. We ended up with still having kids outside playing on our street, just not quite so many! LOL!

When we lived in Town A, we never saw kids playing outside. The first day of school we were shocked to see all the kids waiting at the bus stop -- where the heck did they come from?

We moved to Town B, about 10 minutes away from Town A. Kids here play outside all the time. In fact, my neighbor kids are going to incur my deepest wratch if they play in MY garden one more time.

There are packs of kids playing outside here ALL the time.

Our yard is the designated 'soccer field' around here, because it's flat, and long enough for 2 nets to go lengthwise, so the balls don't fly into the street.

2 houses down is the baseball yard, and the house past that is the pool house, which is where they invariably end up. Another neighbor and I just went to BJ's and bought a couple of cases of water and juice bags, and some snacks for the pool house, since we don't think it's fair that they feed our kids all summer, in addition to entertaining them.

Wow, there are always kids playing outside in my neighbourhood! Swinging, jumping on the trampoline, playing ball ball hockey, biking, skipping... as soon as it gets decently warm here there are kids all over the place!

We're just south of Charlotte and our neighborhood is always filled with kids playing outside. It takes awhile to drive the 2 blocks from the neighborhood entrance to our house because you have to wait for the swarms of children to get out of the way. Some are riding scooters, bikes, skateboards, some are playing basketball, some are kicking a soccer ball or throwing a football. In fact, in the cul-de-sac about 100 yds from our house, there's often a street hockey game going on.

Kids on our street are outside from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the summer.

3 blocks away, on my mom's street, I see kids all the time.... just never on our street.

With the exception of mine, I don't see kids outside playing. The neighbor has one son who likes it outside and comes to play whenever he can. My kids are running around all they can. I will say that it is pretty hot here, and you can only comfortably play outside early in the day or late. 100+ degree weather isn't the best for playing.

Lots of kids play outside in our neighborhood, although there are some families who don't allow it. Some of my fondest memories growing up are of playing outside with all my neighborhood friends.

We don't see many kids either. Where we live is a little isolated but we set up a badmiton/volleyball net for our 4th bbq. My DS and DH have been out there playing every night since. The other night a crowd of kids were out there with them until dark. I hate to take it down. Everybody is having so much fun with it.
If you build it they will come.

Are there any houses for sale on your street? I'm jealous. The kids are always outside in our neighborhood - even in rain/snow/30 below. And they scream and fight with each other and hit our house with tennis balls. I'm all about kids playing outdoors, but not when I have to turn the TV volume all the way up to drown out their screaming and hollering.
