I saw a little girl wearing....

I would not let my girls wear a shirt that said "I want to be a Hooters Girl when I grow up."

My DS3 has a Hooters shirt that says ' Hooters girls dig me'

I wouldn't let my 5 yo son wear this shirt.

I have no problem with Hooters the restaurant, or Hooter girls in general, but "Hooters Girls" are adult women who are sexually appealing - children are not supposed to be sexually appealing.

The idea of dressing my children in clothing that suggests that my small son is attractive to adult women, or that my little girls are attractive to adult men, is just creepy and inappropriate.

There's an A&F t-shirt that said something like "With THESE, who needs brains". I think that's one of the "girl-cotted" ones.

Some sick person is marketing these to our little girls and it makes me ill.

I really agree with this. And no, DD couldn't wear the Hooters t-shirt. She's 18 now and wouldn't waste her time with a guy who wears a Hooters t-shirt either, because she thinks the whole thing is degrading.

I would never work at hooters I have 4 Kids at lost my body with the second. However we love to eat there the wings are awesome. My 5 Yr old DS wanted a t shirt on our last visit in Sept I bought him one it say Life begins at hooters. There is no sexual message on it and he really has only wore it once. I will not let him wear it in public because I'm sure I would get nasty looks. I have to say the girls there wear more clothes than most shows on TV and commercals so I do not have a problem eating there with my family.
My DS see more skin when my teenager's friends come to visit. Kids today just do not cover up(mine not included) I think that is disgusting. As long as the clothes don't get any skimpier I'll continue to take my family.

It's funny but the Hooters girls dress very similarly to the way many girls dressed back when I was a kid. Tight little t-shirts and hot pants (remember those?) were quite normal for a while.

I'm not saying that these fashions were right or wrong, just pointing out that such clothing is nothing new.

I had those shorts in every color! :rotfl:

Okay maybe I am just easy going - We love HOOTER! me DH and Ds 7 eat there alot -no issue with the girls at all..In fact I yes me...bought my son
when he was 4 a shirt from there that said...."my hooter my beat up your soccer mom" He does wear it out now and 99% of the time people who read it get a big laugh....NO I don't think there is any harm in the shirt...it is just that a shirt...no more than the ones they sell in Boscov's or sears that say
parents for sale - Or "I saw it, I want it, I threw a fit, I GOT it" and all the other stupid sayings.....But like I said I am easy going with things like that
there are many many more worse Items in the world than HOOTERS and hooter girls..On our way to Disney cruise last year we had lunch at the hooters over by the Walmart and DH bought the Ann. Calendar since we didnt' sell it up here...whatever...... :goodvibes

Oh the irony. How many of you saying "no Hooters shirt" are cheer moms? I have seen these routines, and the girls of all ages are wearing skimpy skirts, make-up that would make a stripper blush, and suggestive dancing/movements. Justify that.

Well said! :worship:

this is BS=

Nobody would argue Hooters is built areound sexually suggestive aura. Yet women act in a suggestive manner in so many ways, in varying degrees to attract attention. Plunginf neckline, perfume, make-up, flirting, etc.

With all that said, would I let me teen or pre-teen daughter wear this shirt? No. But then again, she wouldn't want to.

Well, I said no to the Hooters shirt and I am not a cheer mom. I do disagree with what you are saying. Cheerleading is a sport. All women do not act suggestively. Though, I would like to know how wearing perfume is acting suggestively? Does that mean my perfumed deodorant makes me a floozy? :rotfl: Personally, I don't wear plunging necklines, neither does my DD, and I wear very little makeup. Flirting, Hmm, Men don't flirt?

I'd let my DD wear it. It's a t-shirt for crying out loud. A joke, nothing more. Wearing it will not turn our little ones into actual Hooters girls anymore than all those princess clothes DD used to wear have turned her into actual royalty. I honestly can't believe so many people would get worked up over this.

We've eaten at Hooters quite a bit. Can't beat "kids eat free" Saturdays. I'm not big on wings, but the sandwiches and salads are tasty and they have a chocolate cake that is to die for. Shoot, a friend and I have even taken the kids without our DHs just for the food. As for the attire, you'd see skimpier outfits at the mall, or even Disney World. ;)

I guess no one here wants any "Future Carolina Panther Cheerleader" t-shirts... Oh well...
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

How about this message I saw on a babies t-shirt "Cuter Than Baby Jesus".

I knew this thread would be heated.

I can see some of these parents saying...I see no problems taking my kids to the local strip joint at lunch for the free lunch buffet either. They aren't stripping at that time. so what's the big deal.

This is kind of making me sad to see what was an innocent question about what you thought of this shirt and would you buy it yes or no, has now turned into attacks on one another.

I think we'd all agree that being a parent is very hard and what works for one person or is okay for one family will not be for another. We are all just doing the best we can and trying to do right by our kids in our own minds. Shouldn't we just be supporting each other as parents even if we may not agree with what another person lets their child wear? :confused3

Don't ya just hate it when you're all set to post a reply only to discover the thread has been closed???? LOL

I have boys so really this is a moot point for me but I doubt I'd go for a Hooters shirt on my elem age kid. I think cheerleading is a sport and the girls for the most part keep it clean around here. Dance however is another matter altogether. I went to a friend's dd's recital and nearly died of embarassment watching her 9 yr old strut around to "Car Wash" very, VERY suggestively. There is zero chance my dd (if I'd had girls rather than boys) would be involved in dance.
