Woot woot:cool1: finally a good coupon week again. I spent $88. It's the first time in a long time that I have saved more than 50%!

I was ready to give up couponing but not anymore! How have you been doing? I actually got several items for free like a pair of rubber gloves, a small bag of rice and a 10 pack of bic razors! I also bought meat that drove up my bill a bit.

I agree couponing is not what it used to be, but congrats on your score! I actually bought only $45 worth of groceries this week for our family of five ... BUT that is because we are working on eating down our chest freezer and using up personal care stuff etc. for spring cleaning. Too much in my cabinets! So I only bought fresh veggies, fruit and milk.

I actually gave up couponing since I found aldis :) seems like it took so much of my time. I do about $50-75 a week or less at aldis for fam of 4. And their brand is really good. In some cases it's better than the "name brand".. This way I'm able to plan my exact meal plans and go to one store once a week. For example a tall jar of salsa at Walmart name brand is almost $4 a jar- at aldis same amount but aldis brand is $1.69! Even WM brand is more $ than aldis. It works for us. :)

I wish there was an Aldis in my area Texas, I grew up in Illinois and there was Aldis but I wasn't really grocery shopping age:rotfl2:.

I went to Walmart spent $101 family of 4 I will be going back all to soon, I had 1 coupon. Not good at all at the coupon game:rolleyes2. Oh wellprincess:

The last grocery store in town that doubles is going to stop doubling at the end of the month. Probably going to give up on coupons and cancel my subscription to the paper.

$91 is a great savings!!!! :cheer2:

I use coupons all the time and love when I have a savings like yours! It's not very often, though. Coupons just aren't what they used to be and it seems that since the extreme couponing shows, they've scaled back, made expiration dates shorter, and have "do not double" on many!

Last week, I saved $81 (or thereabouts) using my coupons and was VERY happy and pleased with myself. Well, I get home and put everything away. I make myself a little something to eat and settle down in front of the TV. What's on? A marathon of "Extreme Couponing". The first episode? That one that was a huge saver but was busted for fraudulent coupon use later on when videos were posted on You Tube.

Anyway, I'm watching the show and these people are getting $1500 worth of stuff for maybe $15 or getting $900 worth of stuff and the store owes THEM money at the end. You get it. With each episode, I was feeling worse and worse about my paltry $81 coupon saving :( I had to remind myself that I actually bought food and things my family will use --- not 400 bottles of vitamin water or 250 ramen noodles! LOL!

We have an Aldi nearby. I go there too, but am afraid to buy meat there. In fact I have never seen someone buying meat there. Do you? Is it any good. Our produce at that store is actually very good. But milk is outrageously priced because of some strange PA law. I just stocked up on chocolate there and they had my favorite cookies back, those lemon straws mmmmmm.

Oh and this trip was to shop rite. They still double, but no overages and. Limit of 4 coupon per item(meaning if you have a stack of coupons you can only buy 4 of the item)

Actually I was afraid to buy meat there and one week $ was tight so I checked out the chicken breast and thought- what the heck! So I made BBQ chicken that nt and my fam was full of compliments and I never said where I got it haha! It was just as if I bought Tyson or any other. Was very good.

On occasion I can save about 50% on a shopping trip but that is on after weeks of only saving 10 to 20%.

I enjoy watching extreme couponing for the entertainment however I would like to see them do episodes where a family could actually eat a balanced diet for the week. Our family only eats 1 or 2 jars of mustard a year, why would I want 100.

Around here we do not get coupons that will give you free items. Usually our coupons are for $1 off multiple items. So yes we can save some money but not the huge amount that extreme couponers rave about.

We frequently buy meat at Aldi and it has always been good. Also love the frozen Talapia . Their ham is my all time favorite ham and the price is usually the lowest in town.
I saw a Country Fresh truck at their receiving dock the other day so I'm guessing that's the source of some of their dairy products.

I still coupon when it's a great deal, but those are less and less

does anyone know what chain Aldi is associated with? They sound like a great store!! I've never seen any here.

Aldi's owns Trader Joe's but comparing the two is like comparing Kmart to Sears. They're owned by the same parent company but they don't offer the same products.

I agree.... Aldis is starting to carry organics from cheese to produce. I would take Aldis over Trader Joes any day.

Wow, that's great!! Stores don't double coupon here so I have to really look for good sales and try to combine. I have a love/hate relationship with coupons. It's such a pain to look for them and match them up but love saving the money. :thumbsup2

Good job on your haul!!!

Am I the only one who wants to see a receipt when someone saves this much with coupons? lol

Not me! Those suckers are L-O-N-G!

I also know that when I have a shopping trip where I've saved 70% or more, it's because I stocked up on high-priced freebies like razors and shampoo. If you were to look at those receipts, you would wonder how anyone could feed a family a decent meal with what I'd bought!

Usually, my couponing keeps me in the 50%-60% off range and that's only by using my $X OYNO coupons to pay for milk, meat and produce AND doing a lot of BOGOs for the meat.

Huge coupon savings like the ones posted here aren't the norm for most of us. In order for me to get a huge savings, I sit down and go through my coupon binder. I then go through the sales circular to see what's on sale to what I need to what I have a coupon for. I also check the in-store specials at the store itself.

I've had shopping trips where I've gotten more than half the stuff in my cart for free (back in the day when Edwards doubled up to and including $1). I've also had shopping trips where I've only used maybe 3 to 5 coupons. When I do a full shopping, I will usually use a bunch of coupons and can save anywhere from $50 to $80. Typically in the $50 range, though.

No matter what, it's nice to save.

If you want, I can mail you my next "big savings" receipt! :)
