I said Ohana, not Obama!!!! - A BFF's do NYE TR **UPDATE 11/4 Pg. 38**

I loved reading about the wishes party! I can't wait, I'm going to the party for the first time this year!
I "awww"d out loud when Farrell 'got it'. What a perfect moment!

I love the pink mouse made dress from Cinderella too, this is why i almost had a mini heart attack when I saw it in the Disney store a few years back, and eventhough at that time it was only in a size much to big for my Boo I just had to buy it and put it away. So here is the pic for your enjoyment, and pleAse tell yeti that Duffy says hi :)

Yo're going to love the dessert party! I would seriously do it every time if I could.

That is the cutest dress ever! I've never seen it before. They need to make it again for sure.

Day 5 – Wednesday January 4, 2012

Today we were heading towards………….

Platform 9 ¾

That’s right. We were heading to Universal Studios so we could visit our favorite boy wizard. Farrell was super stoked about this. I (being the dork that I am) even did my makeup in Slytherin colors. No Gryffindor for me, because I didn’t think it would look right. Plus I have a Slytherin scarf, so….you know.

We first ate at Captain Cook’s so we could get a more substantial breakfast. Because Universal food is spotty at best. We wanted to stay full for longer.

We were on the road a little later than anticipated, but we got there in no time. However, I did do a stupid. I, who should always know where I’m going when I drive in Florida, took one exit too early to Universal. It’s okay, because it still led to our final destination. However, my easier exit was foiled by a jerk that wouldn’t let me merge into the lane I needed to get in to turn.

So, I said…….

“YOU JACKWAGGGGGGOOOOONNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Really loud. I have no shame. And Farrell and I proceeded to say it the rest of the day. True story.

We got to the entrance and I handily pulled in to valet parking. I love the premier pass that I have. Gotta love free valet.

So. This is where it gets……….ugly.

There were so many people at Universal in general, I didn’t even have words for it. It was only a little after 9am. And the wait time for Forbidden Journey?

2 hours.

2 HOURS!!!!!!!!!!

Farrell and I agreed that we would hop in line. FJ was the entire reason that we were going to Universal. Farrell is an epic HP fan. I couldn’t let her down. I didn’t care if we got nothing else accomplished, but dangit we were waiting in line. We hopped in line immediately. I didn’t want Farrell to be disappointed.

On the way, I snapped some pictures.

Oh look at that mass of people in front of us…..

035314aa.jpg

Oh, look at all of those people BEHIND ME!

45a265db.jpg

Dude. I’m not kidding, but the line for FJ was a hot mess. The employees were just trying to keep a hold on everything, but people were everywhere. We were so far out of the queue, it wasn’t even funny. Every other time I’ve been, we walk straight into the castle. This time? To the left of the castle, on the bridge, IN JURASSIC PARK, in some backstage area that I’ve never seen before, up the side of the castle, on the roof, in a gutter, underground in the sewers…….

We made the best of it.

And then we got REALLY bored. Just click the video below.

No, I’m not cleaning. I’m not that bored.

Dumbleydore’s office (with Farrell. I love that Madame Maxine calls him Dumbleydore btw).

0ee6c423.jpg

Let the angels sing, we made it to the sorting hat!

2c8a8283.jpg

We survived the 26.2 mile queue. It was crazy!

Verdict? Farrell thought it was worth the two hour wait. I admit, I was a little spoiled, because I’ve never had to wait more than 20 minutes for it. I was really nervous she was going to be furious from the wait. By the time we got out, oh and got our stuff out of the lockers….oh the lockers….

Why must people act ridiculous with the locker situation. Just be patient people. Don’t get all up in my grill, trying to get all up in my locker. Just calm down! Ain’t nobody got time for that!!!!

Oh, random. Ain’t nobody got time for that is my new favorite phrase. Watch this and all will be clear….

Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That!

Finally, we got out of there. It was 12pm. Yup. Three hours. Gone.

What would we do next? And would the crowds continue?

Wow. I cannot believe that you spent 3 hours on that ride! I'm glad that Farrell thought it was worth it though.

Wow, that's an INSANE line! But I agree - if that's what you're there for, then the long line doesn't even matter, you HAVE to get in it.

But how did you not eat, drink, or have a bathroom available for three hours? I can't go 20 minutes without at least a drink of water!

Girl, I can't believe it either. I was absolutely amazed when we got out of there. I was so hopeful that she was going to love it, because it would have sucked if she didn't.

We did fine for the whole time. Albeit it was a little tough, but we managed. But we did have to get to the bathroom stat after we were done.

Holy ick... I can't even... just why? How? FOR WHAT REASON?

I enjoyed your video hahaha. Hopefully yall were able to do SOMETHING else. EEEEEEEESH.

So, I said…….

“YOU JACKWAGGGGGGOOOOONNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Really loud. I have no shame. And Farrell and I proceeded to say it the rest of the day. True story.

I am totally going to be saying this the whole way to work tomorrow. Thank you very much. There are hundreds of Jackwagggooooooonnnnnnnns in the state of Delaware and they all drive the same route to work in the morning. Awesomeness!

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl: OMG! You totally have me cracking up with this update. Too, TOO funny! So worth reading it tonight. Remind never to go to Universal on, what...Jan 4th? :faint: And I thought the 20 minute wait for Nemo was bad. Oy to the Vey. You are a good friend for enduring that. Can't wait to finally ride that ride.

Ahhhh a two hour wait is long, but good for you for sticking it out for Farrell! I swear, FP's have totally spoiled us all. I really remember waiting at least 45 minutes without batting an eye years ago for Splash Mountain, etc. Like, "oh, only an hour? We're waiting!" Sigh. :rotfl:

LOL, wow, 104 day wait! That is a long time. haha FJ is pretty awesome though. When my sisters and I went I think we waited around 45 minutes which I didn't think was too bad considering that was the summer right after it opened. Oh man, those lockers are so annoying. Thankfully I have smart sisters because for our second ride they suggested we put our lockers in the ones near the Dragon Challenge-that was a lot less hectic.

I enjoyed your video hahaha. Hopefully yall were able to do SOMETHING else. EEEEEEEESH.

I don't know. I have no explanation for the crowds. I seriously thought with it being several days after New Years that it would be lower crowds. Clearly, every person in vacation at Orlando the same time as us had the SAME idea......

I totally watched that video again and I was like "yup, it's totally random, I'm posting it!"

I am totally going to be saying this the whole way to work tomorrow. Thank you very much. There are hundreds of Jackwagggooooooonnnnnnnns in the state of Delaware and they all drive the same route to work in the morning. Awesomeness!

There are Jackwagon's everywhere. It's my new favorite word, and funny enough, my mom's too. Because I use it in every conversation I have (JACKWAGON!), you can't help but catch on.......jackwagon.......

I am a firm believer that no ride is worth waiting 2 hours for, but sometimes you don't really have a choice. I wasn't going to go all the way to Universal to say "look at how cool the castle is!", and then leave. Heck no. :lmao:

OMG, I do not know what I did before FPs. But I think prior to FP, lines at Disney were not as long as they get up now. I have a fastpass theory, but it's very long and drawn out, so not worth posting here. Plus, I like FP's, so I don't want anyone to get confused and think that I don't.

Only an hour. Hahahaha, remember those days? Now I'm like 30 MINUTES?!

I know. We kept ourselves entertained during those 104 days by listening to music on my phone, dancing a jig, and eating leaves.

Oh, the Dragon Challenge locker is a great idea! Except, I think we would have gotten charged based on the wait time we had endured....

Wow. Three hours!? You guys are champs. I'd do it though, that ride is really the only reason I go to Universal. It is pretty darn awesome though.

OMG the horror of waiting sooo long in a line with a bunch of jackwagons who invaded your park on the day your friend wanted to experience our Harry Potter ridey thing,...jackwagons the lot of em! :rotfl:

Girl, you are funny. We gotta meet up and have a drink or sumpin...
Kim

I seriously just flipped my laptop I’m so excited for this update! Heck yes Harry Potter! YES! CAN WE PLEASE BE BEST FRIENDS! AH. SLYTHERIN IS THE WAY TO GO! ACK! Day Made. Also, have you ever watched A Very Potter Musical/Sequel on youtube?! If not, and you’re a HP fan, you must!!

I haven’t eaten anywhere but 3 Broomsticks at Universal, but it seems like a good idea to get a good breakfast in beforehand haha. Ha! I like how the jackwagon probably turned into an inside joke that had you guys laughing and no one else understanding? Lawl.

2 hours already?? UGH! That is crazy, however, with that huge long cue, with so much to look at and take pictures with, I know I wouldn't mind waiting, although 2 hours is a bit much. I'm glad you guys thought it was worth it in the end, that ride is seriously the greatest thing in the world, I cannot wait to go back and ride it again, I thought it was absolutely amazing!!

HA! I love that ain't no body got time for that stuff! Haha, UGH, I forgot about the lockers, they were crazy enough when we were there, I can't imagine a 2 hour wait and having to deal with those. Booourns

After everything was said and done, I was amazed that three hours had gone by. It was absolutely insane. FJ is the only reason for me to go to Universal also, but fortunately we didn't pay for Farrell's ticket, I used rewards points from my bank for it. If we would have paid, I would have been really irritated at how the day went down.

Seriously. Those jackwagons should have known better and should have just stayed away from Universal like I wanted them to. :lmao:

Thanks for thinking I'm funny. It's just how I am in real life (i.e. I don't think I'm that funny, this is just how I behave). I love meeting new people so that would be a lot of fun. :goodvibes

Good lord, I hope your computer survived the flip! I am a huge HP fan and have been meaning to re-read the books, but I get so interested in other books that I just forget. I'm a Slytherin girl for sure. Maybe I'm a little sinister. I think it's more that I just like the colors. :lmao:

I've eaten breakfast at Three Broomsticks before too on another trip. I just didn't like how expensive it was, but the food was pretty good overall for sure.

The ride is amazing for sure. The wait was weird though. We spent the majority of the time waiting outside. Once we made it in, seriously through the castle, it almost flew by. The only place we got held up a lot was in the gardens.

I keep thinking I want to add the Dessert Party but Keith doesn't like desserts but he also doesn't like the MK fireworks because parents let their kids go crazy and they are always misbehaving (not all of course but he has little patience so even one or two makes it ALL kids at MK! :rotfl:). I think I could do the dessert party and have better firework luck but then I may waste money on the desserts he doesn't eat....oh the quandry!!!

Those desserts do look so good though and the Yeti seemed to really enjoy them! I cracked up when Yeti was glowing!!

That sounds like a great night at MK and it is so worth it when people "get it"! And I am so glad she thought that 3 hour wait was worth it! I would have gone bizerk!!! :crazy2:

Ok... I just found your tr and am subbing on ... I see I'm late but I hope the party is still going...I just read thru page 5 and I see you're on page 30...

I love your yeti and that he travels with you.... I have the rounder... Almost a circle one...:goodvibes

I think your writing is very funny And it is very sweet to do a BFF trip...:thumbsup2

And I agree with you wholeheartedly about autocorrect on the phone...it is incredibly annoying at times ...:rolleyes2

I'll have to go back to read more now...:surfweb:

Man, that's a rock and a hard place for the dessert party! Lucky for me, I love desserts and I love the fireworks, so you know. :lmao: For me, it's a deal at the price, because it's just so easy, but I could understand how you would feel it could be a waste. I recommend doing it once though. ;)

Yeti glowing was hysterical. When we were on Peter Pan he was glowing so bright, it was awesome.

I'm glad you're here! We still have a few days to go through so you're definitely not late for the party. I love the round Yeti! He's so cool. I pick him up and cuddle him every time I'm in the Animal Kingdom.

All right guys, I have to give you a mini real life update before I get started on this. I’m trying my best to get this finished up before November, because my Mom and I are going to the world for Thanksgiving weekend and I don’t want to run three TR’s at the same time! The madness! Hopefully I’ll throw some PTR plans in so you guys know what’s going on.

So my Grandma was released from rehab and she wasn’t ready. We knew she wasn’t ready, but they released her regardless. We had to take her home, and were told that home care would be set up. It wasn’t. So we were scrambling trying to figure out what to do.

We called her doctor over and over again, and for days we didn’t get a call back. So while navigating all of this, we all had to figure out how to work from home so she could be cared for, and have someone sleeping there at night to help her out.

Her doctor FINALLY called back and my mom explained that she wasn’t ready to be home and that she needed more rehab. That day the doctor finally did something and sent her back to rehab.

Our concerns are greater than her being in rehab and we really feel that inevitably we may have to make the decision that no one wants to, which would be to put her in a place where she can get the care she needs. No one wants to do that. She’s lived a good 88 years and throughout that time has been taking care of herself, so it’s a difficult choice. We have to see what this stint in rehab brings, but at the same time we have to do our research on facilities in the area for her.

Now that I’ve thoroughly depressed you guys, let’s go on with our crazy Universal day!

Day 5 – Wednesday January 4, 2012

So we left off just having spent 3 hours of our life waiting to ride and riding the Forbidden Journey. Farrell was happy with the ride and said it was worth it. I don’t really think any ride is worth 3 hours of my life, but seriously where else we were going to go? That’s right, NO WHERE!

After we left, we were seriously hungry. I was also hopeful that the situation at Harry Potter was not going to continue throughout the park.

We headed over to Marvel Superhero Island to check out food and some wait times. Well…..let me tell you.

The Hulk? 90 minute wait time.

Spiderman? 60 minute wait time.

What the shiznet?! Really?! It appears that everyone followed us to Universal on this day. It’s because we’re so epically awesome and have tons of stalkers. I mean, who could resist following us around for a day?

This is the crowd situation in Marvel Superhero Island.

741d5951.jpg

Grrrrr…….

Not feeling like having to swim through the sea of humanity that was all around us (because let’s be real, we have a really hard time treading water with all the people around), we headed into Café 4 for lunch. I’ve never eaten there, and we all know how I feel about Universal food (in a word? Blech).

I got a cheese pizza and salad combo, and Farrell got fettucine alfredo.

4cd39821.jpg

It actually wasn’t bad. So, note to self. If you need to eat something at Universal, cut all of your losses and eat some pizza.

While we were eating our lunch we downloaded the app for the Universal wait times to see if we could figure out where we would go. The wait times weren’t as bad on the Universal side, so we decided to head over there after we finished our lunch.

When we made it to the Universal side, we decided to wait for this bad boy.

52bbeeb7.jpg

The wait time was posted at 60 minutes, but the ride is really awesome, and I wanted Farrell to go on it. However………

The ride broke down.

Really?! Is the universe trying to tell me that I’m a bad Disney fan for visiting Universal? I think it was. I think it was karma coming back to slap me in the face saying “you’re a cheater! You’ve gone to Universal three times in one year. That’s too much. Go back to Disney!”

Well what else are we supposed to do? Oh right. Go on Shrek 4D.

I like the pigs. This doesn’t capture them well, but you know…

29453b89.jpg

Farrell again asked if something was going to bit, sting, or pinch her in this. See how scarred she was from It’s Tough to be a Bug? Hahaha. I’m the best friend EVER!

I told her she had nothing to worry about and that if she was really that big of a pansy, we could sit in a seat that doesn’t move.

If looks could kill, I would have melted. LOL.

We left Shrek and Rip Ride Rockit was still closed. Karma karma karma karma karma…….chameleon.

But, bonus of all bonuses! We saw the DeLorean!

2d476f3a.jpg

Our last ditch effort was to check out the Mummy. The wait time was posted at 35 minutes. I could hang with that.

We hopped in line, but I could tell Farrell’s back was bothering her really badly (she’s been in physical therapy for a few injuries that she’s had). I asked her if she was okay and she said she wasn’t. But so sweet that she is, she said that she didn’t want to disappoint me.

I told her there was no way I could be disappointed and that I would rather have her feeling well than us spending more time at Universal. We both agreed that after we rode the Mummy, it would be our last attraction. It also helped that I did not pay for Farrell’s ticket, that it was a rewards ticket through my bank.

She did love the Mummy though. Except for the fact that we were surrounded by people in line that had no personal space. Really people? I’ve mentioned this before. But this time, I think that Farrell was going to flip a gasket. She looks at me and says “get behind me, or I’m going to hit someone!” We switched places, and no joke I was goosed like 10 times. I know I’m awesome, but really? Really?!

Oh, and when Farrell says she’s going to hit someone? You believe her. She’s small, but dangit she’s scrappy.

As we were heading out, I turned to Farrell and said in my best Terminator voice:

“Come with me if you want to live”.

In response to me, Farrell says:

“Dude, your man voice sounds like a drag queen.”

I love you too Farrell!!!

So let’s recap. It was now 4pm. What did we accomplish?

Forbidden Journey
Shrek 4D
The Mummy

That is a sad state of affairs. We were there for 7 HOURS!

Farrell was a great sport though and she said that she was happy that we went. I was glad for that. We decided to head back to the resort, because Farrell needed to do her back exercises and take her medication if she was going to be of any use the next day.

I am sooooo glad that we did what we did, because when we started to get ready for our dinner reservation, Farrell was feeling so so so much better. Whew, crisis averted. I wanted the last two days of our trip to be good and this was the decision that helped us.

So we headed out for our dinner reservation at 7:15pm? Where was our dinner?

Guesses?

563e7c80.jpg

We were heading to Boma! And it was busy! Seriously people, stop following me around yo!

4b747b42.jpg

Everything was amazing as it always is, and Farrell loved it. We’re so easy to please and she’s so much like me with food, so it’s easy to make her happy. She loved my decision to pick this restaurant. Want some food pictures?

ee2beb5c.jpg

3553f6de.jpg

43a2df84.jpg

Yuuuummm. Make me happy just thinking about it. What I would want most is the bobotie. That is my absolute favorite dish there. I can eat it over and over and over again.

We had to roll each other out of there. That made us quite a sight to see, let me tell you. It was especially difficult because there are stairs to get to Boma that we had to go up. It would have been smarter to take the elevator, but you know…..

Yeti doesn’t have anything to say about this day. Why?

4e3a78c5.jpg

Food coma.

Up next: DHS part deux. Pray for less crowds.

Danielle – I have to rinse out my mug……..
Farrell response – What did you say about your Mogwi?!

Danielle – If I had one of those tour guide sticks, I’d probably be hitting people with it.

Danielle – You JACKWWWAAAGGGGOOOONNNNN!!!

Farrell – Get behind me, or I think I’m going to jack this woman in the face!

Danielle – (deep voiced) Come with me if you want to live
Farrell response – Dude, your man voice sounds like a drag queen.
