I refuse to believe...

...that every single DVC room in all of WDW is completely booked for the weekend of Oct 19-20. And yet that's what the online check is telling me. I just spent an hour going through every resort and room permutation. Am I doing something wrong? Should I call MS and have them check for me? Seriously, all I need is a stinkin' studio for a long weekend to burn off the rest of my points. What a frustrating afternoon...

Not only are they all booked, they have been for quite some time. I looked at the 5 1/2 month mark and found nothing.

If you found a night, I hope you took it and waitlisted the rest. The longer you wait the less of a chance you have.

Well believe it or not... like cbnsoul said, they have been for quite some time, especially the studios. F&W is extremely popular.

We made the mistake of waiting for the Eat to the Beat schedule to come out before booking & were lucky to get 2 nights in a Studio at SSR for the first weekend. We've been waitlisted for the next 2 weekends ever since April/May.

Food and Wine, MNSSHP, lots of schools going to Fall Breaks......October isn't as quiet as it used to be.

I'm going to be there that first weekend too, and well before the 7 months came, I noticed that the Sunday was already gone for a BCV studio, so I booked Wednesday to Saturday at BCV. I'm at SSR for the rest of the stay.

Food & Wine Festival and Halloween parties.

Our family owns RCI and I was able to find only for-cash rooms at OKW (no trading): $1160 for a studio, $1590 for a 1BR and $2320 for a 2BR, but you have to take room for 3 nights, from 10/17-10/20.

Cash inventory and inventory turned over to RCI are two completely different inventories than the inventory bookable on points. So its possible to find rooms available on cash that a member can't book on points.

Disney gets RCI points to sell from RCI trades out. They get cash points from a few sources, but a big one is trades into Disney Collection options - its helpful for some members to think about it this way - a member is already using that room, he's just using it on a cruise ship.

I laughed a little when I read this.
June 2012 all the DVC inventory for that time in Oct was already booked--4 months out.
I asked if there was something special going on I didn't know about. The replies were:
Oct is busy with F&W and very popular DVC time.

and my favorite least helpful reply::rolleyes:
Other people booked before you. (Thanks a lot. I was just looking and wondering, not complaining. If I had really been trying to book, I would have at 7 months or earlier.)

Right at the 11 month mark, I had booked a LV-studio at my home resort BLT for the second half of October.

In March my application for a new job was accepted and training for it starts on Oct. 21, so I had to move my vacation to the beginning of October, I was lucky enough to get 4 nights in a LV at BLT but had to find somewhere else for the remaining 3 nights for that, not much was available but I still could get a Savannah-view studio at Jambo. Very glad it worked out. But definitely a very busy time.

We start off our vacation with 3 nights at Hilton Head and I had no problem in switching dates there. :-)

That's really the truth that some people can't accept. Threads are posted all the time where people expect there to always be availability when they want it and blame DVC when there's not.

True but if your asking "Is there something special going on I don't know about" that reply isn't too helpful.

I could see this happening. For example when I was in NYC for comic con last year someone who was just visiting NYC seemed surprise at how full the hotel (within very easy walking distance of comic con) was for what they hadn't realized wasn't just any random weekend in Oct. (This was on Thursday early afternoon before the LARGE groups of people in costume made it very obvious why everyone was there)

As for the DVC Oct is a time of relatively low points for booking (I am surprised Disney knowing how fast places book haven't raised the points for this time of year yet but an very glad they haven't!) , Food and wine festival, and the halloween parties... one of my favorite times to go.

At Disney, there is ALWAYS something going on - cheerleaders or IT conference, marathons or Star Wars weekend, pin trading get togethers, Jersey week, gay days, etc., etc. And DVC has enough points sold to keep the units functionally full all the time. In an ideal world, DVC is pretty much 100% booked when you check in (the ideal world doesn't account for people cancelling trips last minute, people not using all their points). Which means that in an ideal world (ideal here meaning "the way Disney envisions the program") the rooms will always book full - sometimes that will be 11 months out (VAKL concierge), sometimes four months out, sometimes two months out, sometimes two weeks out.

Originally DVD thought Christmas and New Years were going to be the busiest time - there is a provision for a lottery in our POS. But apparently DVCers don't like crowds and high points - we are connoisseurs of "manageable crowds, good weather, and relative bargains."

Yep, what every one else said. I booked my Oct. 19th trip at the 11 month window and while I managed to snag my beloved BWV standard studio, at exactly 8:00AM, the first day(s) were booked up within 10 minutes. I've since tried to add that Thursday and Friday (17th and 18th) to that trip and started looked about 3 months ago and nothing, zippo, no SSR or OKW, so I gave up and booked Vero beach and we will start that trip at Vero, then check into BWV on Oct. 19th for our 2 week F&W trip. No, like others, I'm not surprised. OP, good luck, keep trying!

All you have to do is check the DIS just a bit or even check the WDW website and you'll find out lots of stuff going on. Don't complain if you haven't done any homework at all.
