I love coffee and a friend of mine got me the Keurig elite for Christmas. I'm unwrapping it now but I'm super skeptical. I *adore* my Bunn, it makes my coffee fast, and I can make it strong the way I like it but I do waste a lot of coffee with it. I'm reading through it now and so far it seems expensive. Besides the little cups but it needs filtered or bottled water? Anyone use tap water on it for an extended period of time, does it still run ok? What are your favorite k-cups? I was thinking of buying a big box of Caribou and the ones where you can fill with whatever kind of coffee you want.

Any other tips to help me learn to love it?

I LOVE mine, and didn't realize how much, until it broke, and I had to bring out my $200 old pot (my keurig was 1 1/2 years old, I called the company, and they mailed me a new one, no charge). I just use tap water. I like the green mountain cups, and I'm so mad at myself, because I bought a sample box, had one that was SO good, and forgot what it was!

I don't have one, but my DH does (in his apt. where he lives & works during the week) and he found a little coffee grounds holder thing (that's technical, huh) at Macy's (they carry them at Kohl's too) that you can put your own coffee grounds in and not have to buy the little cups. I think it around $20. He seems to really like his and all of my friends that have the Kuerig like them. I have a gold old Krups and I'm good with that :goodvibes

I bought one for my DH as a Christmas gift. We get ready a couple hours apart in the morning and we both like different types of coffee...so this seemed like a nice option for us. I have to say, I am surprised at how much I like it. I have never been a fan of flavored coffees. My DH loves them. I have tried a few since we got the Keurig, mudslide, kahlua, swiss chocolate almond, and I have liked them all. I think the difference is, compared to buying the coffee at a donut shop, these flavored coffees are much more subtle and they do not have that burnt over-brewed taste. One other thing we like about the machine...it does more than just coffee. My oldest 2 girls have really enjoyed the hot apple cider and the hot chocolate. I've also bought some of the teas.

I use tap water.

We have ours maybe a year or two now. Never thought I would like the idea of a one cup coffee maker. Well, I love it, and so does my wife. It is all we use anymore, and yes, we use straight tap water.

I do use the filter kit, for the water, that you can buy, and change the filters every two months, as recommended. I also have the coffee filter kit, and use my own coffee quite regularly, especially for decaf in the evenings.

As far as K-cups, we have tried a ton of them, and my wife likes to try different flavors. As far as "standard coffee", I like the Green Mountain brand blends, as well as Tully's, particularly the French Roast.

Great machine, that has been pretty much problem free for us, even with tap water, since we bought it.

I can't remember the last time we used a regular coffee maker. I would NEVER trade my Keurig

That's so funny because I can't imagine my life without my Bunn :rotfl: I have zero counterspace in my kitchen and there is no room for a second coffee maker so I'm already trying to figure out what to do with it since I want to use it but can't bear to think of ditching my Bunn. So far I'm thinking of just putting it in the second bedroom! I'm out of creamer right now though *gasp* so after heading to the grocery store and I'm going to try the Keurig.

....we have one and we use it every day!!! I just bought a box of hot cocoa for my DS!

...oh boy, ITA!

We use ours daily and I've never used anything but tap water. I would never bother with bottled water. Seems rather ridiculous!
We love our Keurig.

I had one briefly. I hated it. I think I got a bum one though because everyone seems to love it. :confused3

It didn't make the coffee hot enough and if I made a small cup there were grounds in it, if I made a larger cup it was weak.

It's expensive because I like a large cup of coffee but don't want it that weak. So I don't have one anymore.

We love our Keruig. DH is a HUGE coffee person. He usually pressed his coffee now with the Keruig start to finish it's 2 minutes. He now presses on the weekend but did find refillable k cups that he can grind his own coffee into. So he's goign tot try that too. A box on amazon is cheaper than two xl coffees at Dunkin or 4 Venti coffees at Starbucks. Macys and Kohls have some great deals too. For the hot chocolates I use the tea cup button so that it's rich and creamy. My best advice is to experiment.

The newer ones you can adjust the temperature.

Honestly, I am not thrilled with mine. I think the coffee is fine, but if you drink more than one cup a day, it gets very expensive. I don't think I have ever spent so much $$$ on coffee as I do now. I bought the filter that you can put your own coffee into to see if that helped, but I haven't been real impressed with that either. The good thing is... is that it has caused me to cut back on how much coffee I drink in a day. I used to drink 3-4 cups a day.....now I am down to two cups.

I have one and do not like it. I haven't had temp issue but every cup, regardless of size/brand/flavor is weak. I only use it for coffee when I have guests that drink decaf of if I happen to run out of coffe for my regular coffee maker.

The rest of my family likes it better than I do. My husband uses it to make ice tea and my girls use hot water for their hot chocolate mix (non Keurig).

I love mine. :lovestruc In fact I just tweeted this morning about how much I love it!! I just use water right out of the tap and it's been running fine for over a year.

I love mine. I use water from the Fridge because we have a filter on that water. But I have used tap too. If you like your coffee super strong try the Extra Bold cups they have more coffee in them or the k-cups for travel mugs.

Gave DH a Special Edition B60 for Christmas.

He had been microwaving a cup of hot water every morning and using Taster's Choice instant.

I told him this was a much better way of making just one cup in the morning.

It took him a while to get used to it, but now he loves this machine!!

We have the Keurig Platinum and obsessively love it. Chai Tea Latte, Cafe Mocha, Green Mountain Breakfast Blends are our favorites.

We've had ours a year and do use our deep rock water dispenser to fill it, but only because we are on a well and our water has LOTS of hard water deposits. We HAVE used it on a couple rare occasions, particularly before we got the Deep Rock dispenser, (always with the filter), but we don't want to get that scale buildup, so don't if we can help it. I am thinking that if you are on city water, that is generally filtered to some degree already, so I would be less concerned with that. My husband drinks coffee, I drink tea (LOVE that chai latte), my 12 year old drinks hot chocolate, and my 10 year old adores the mocha latte the best. DH must be a weak coffee drinker, though, cause he buys mostly the flavored coffees, like cinnamon roll, french toast, etc, and uses mostly the travel cup size; he's never complained about it being weak. In the sample pack we got when we bought it were some french roast and xxbold flavors, he HATED those, they were WAY too strong. Luckily my bil likes stronger coffee and got a Keurig at about the same time, so we gave the kcups to him. For plain, dh likes Kona blend, Green Mountain Breakfast Blend, Caribou, but mostly he buys flavors only.
