I received magic from another visitor

I see; rereading OP again, makes sense. I was thinking the lady was leaving the park and giving, like we all used to do with unused paper fastpasses. Thanks for clarifying.

We got free lunch from someone at Tortuga Tavern. They just stood in line and kept scanning their band until all their credits were used up (they were there before we got there, and still had over 10 credits remaining after redeeming our lunches).

As mentioned, it was not good planning on their part to have remaining credits, but it is nice that they realized this was a way to be nice to others rather than just let them expire and go to waste.

While very nice of her to offer, seems crazy someone would pay for the DDP and have that many credits left.

They might have had to cut their vacation short for some reason. A family member might have had to bow out of the trip at the last moment. Or they might be wealthy enough that they can purchase the deluxe plan for convenience without ever intending to eat that much. Or they might have been upgraded to the deluxe plan, somehow, and decided they wouldn't let it change the sensible way they normally feed themselves. There's a number of ways you can end up with too many credits, that don't involve poor planning.

The couple that sat behind us at ScFi had extra desert credits and bought a desert for us. We asked them why they bought the DDP if they knew they wouldnt both want desert all the time or have other left over credits and they said they wanted as many prepaid expenses as possible so they knew how much their trip would cost. Since normally the plan is near break even for many, seems like a great way to make sure you don't bust the budget.

That is great, OB!!!. Always nice to hear stories like this.

One question...how does she give you the credits, they are not on paper, are they? I have never had a dining plan, do not know how it works?

She actually walked to the register with me and paid for our meals. So nice of her to take some time to do this.

I asked her the same question. She said 6 months out, it seemed like a good idea when they were planning their big vacation. For a family of 4, with 3 counting as adults, that is $400 for food each day. Of course, they ate like kings, but they probably don't want to eat again for a year. I don't think that they will do this again.

In Germany at the Karamel shop, I had a lady behind me with the same issues. HOWEVER, since they drove, she was going to get all of her food in snacks and stuff. They were also on the deluxe plan. Not only is that too much food, but even 2 table service/day is a big time commitment.

That is fantastic. Glad to see that others are spreading the magic!

that is awesome. way back in 05 some folks on the DP had dessert they didn't want after ordering it so when they came to their table with the food they saw me & my mom and asked if we wanted their chocolate cake...well we love cake so of course we did! It was really great and very sweet!

Next vacation will be the first time we use DP and if we have any credits left over I'll remember that I can pay it forward to.

When we went to Disneyland this past summer for the 60th celebration, unexpectedly a D33 member gave my DS and I a bunch of FP to use for any ride. That was a nice gesture and we enjoyed the reduced wait times!

Nice! Although I was expecting you to say that someone gave you some used t-shirts and cheap plastic toys. :rolleyes1

Well, now I feel bad. I always bring stuff to give out to kids who are behaving well in line or waiting for a show to start. Stickers, glow sticks, etc. I always ask the parents first and they've always been appreciative. You make it sound like a bad thing!

There could be several reasons (sickness, food overload, sharing meals) that they had so many left. With the DxDDP, you get three meals and two snacks per person/day--that's a ton of food. One trip, my niece got very sick with 2 emergency room visits, so she missed several park days/meals and one of us had to stay with her missing these as well. We had many meals left over and numerous snacks.

They are referring to a previous post where the OP and her family were giving "gently" used items to park goers. What you do is a very nice gesture.

We tried to pay it forward a few times. This trip, we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott and received free breakfast vouchers since we are rewards members. We tried to gift to everyone in the breakfast room. They were either leaving that day, or were reward members. Hated to, but since we left the next morning we could not use the vouchers.
HOWEVER, as a pin trader, I do gift pins to kids when I am trading and they seem really interested. Gave away about 5 pins this trip. That lets them have fun, but may also get them hooked on a bad habit!!!

We also were sprinkled with pixie dust during out vacation. We were at DHS and a family who was on the dining plan got 2 star wars cupcakes. They said they had way too many at home and were leaving in the morning and offered them to us. Such a small gesture but it really made our night, especially after dealing with half the people we encountered lol

We are true believers in give some magic...get some magic!

Our first trip we had a similiar situation. We were at Contempo as well and a family urged us to grab a bunch of snacks- they were flying out and had tons left to use. We were getting ready to drive to Tampa to leave for a cruise and they insisted we grab multiple snacks to last us a few days!

The best gift we gave was 4 fps to TSM on Easter weekend. We were just done and our kids were starting to fall apart...we gave the fps to a family right as the dad was trying to explain to his 2 preschool aged kids that the 2 hour line was too long and they had a flight to catch that evening. He got a "catch" in his throat as he thanked us...we enjoyed giving it as much as he enjoyed getting it!

One of our favorite things to do on the last day or so of vacation! I'll hang out in the cafeteria and wait until I see another couple. We've also had success at table service at Yak and Yeti and Jiko. The Jiko couple had shared their lounge table with us during a longish wait. Turns it it was their 50th anniversary! I love making Disney friends. Plus its already paid for so I want to give it to someone if we can.

That's awesome! We had a similar thing happen to us this summer while we were staying at the Poly and it really made my whole trip. I still talk about the nice family that bought our breakfast one morning. It was a similar situation where they were leaving and they still had credits to use. I couldn't say "thank you" enough to the lady; she told me that she knew I was appreciative and my expression was thanks enough. :)

The lady that purchased our breakfast came with me to the register and waited while I ordered. When it was time to pay, she just swiped her magic band.
