I, like many other people, really want to be able to rent a convertible for our trip June 3-12 but the prices are SO high! I just booked with SW great rates and now I need a rental car but I began to think - we don't really need it until the end of our trip. We are going to Universal first and they will have a shuttle to Seaworld. We are then going to Disney where we always take their transportation. We won't really need it until noon Friday to go to Vero Beach and then back to the airport for an 8:00pm flight. Would it help at all to get a town car from the airport, a taxi to Disney then rent a convertible at the Dolphin? Does anyone have an idea what these expenses might be? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!:Pinkbounc

That is so confusing.

That said. The convertible is going to be high. Your only option at the Dolphin is National/Alamo and they tend to be HIGH on the convertible rentals. Also, avaialbity is tougher there for convertibles.

The best deals I have found on convertibles tend to be on Dollar. I find they will allow discount codes to be applied to convertibles when LOTS of others won't.

All I can suggest is going to www.mousesavers.com and Trying ALL the National codes. You cannot use a free car class upgrade to a convertible.

Southwest has a code for Dollar on a convertible. I just did your dates picking up the car at the Orlando Airport and with all the taxes it came to about $321.00. That's a pretty good price. I just booked one the other day for my 10 day trip in August and got one for $367.00.

Here's the link:http://www.southwest.com/hotfares/hotfares_cars.html

Hope this helps, and let me know how you made out.

hello,

check out travelzoo.com and click on car rental specials, hertz has convertibles for $49 a day, you save even more if you are a AAA member. Dont know how ling this is valid for so check it out.

Mid march I rented from them a Mitsubishi Spyder convertible in Fort Myers for a week in Marco Island for $316 including tax and gas!!

Wow, I feel so lucky. We used a code found on Mousesavers for Dollar for a compact car for $159/week. I also signed up for the Dollar Fast Lane Program. They sent us two coupons for a free one class upgrade with our welcome package. When we got to the counter the nice man asked "Will a PT Cruiser Convertable be okay?" I said "Uh, yes and can I hug you Mr. Dollar Counter Guy?" He got a kick out of that. I was really impressed by the ease of the whole process and the drop off was so simple. I will use them all the time now.
