I am really no help. Our WL for AKV over Thanksgiving just came through and I'm excited because my kids have never gotten to stay there, but I am still a little sad that we won't be staying at OKW. Both are great resorts. Good luck with your decision!

I don't think anyone can make up your mind for you. Personally, I OKW. The 1BR villas are soooo roomy and it's hard for me to give that up. I also prefer the "townhouse" type over the "hotel" type villa.

We tried VWL one time and were so not impressed with the villa or the view. It was much smaller than the ones we get at OKW and our view was of the parking lot. However, there are many, many people who wouldn't trade VWL for OKW, no matter how much you offered to pay them.

Personally I prefer AKV. The theme and location are more to our tastes.

We did Christmas at OKW in a 2 bedroom and loved the space, but that being said we also love AKV, but have only stayed in a studio. Who is going with you? The extra bathroom in the AKV one bedroom might be an advantage. At OKW we took a small tree and some decorations and had tons of room for displaying them, and we had Christmas dinner there with 14 of us, so tons of room for that...it really depends on your needs. What's more important, extra square footage, or an extra bathroom? Oh, and there's only an extra bathroom if you're at Kidani!

for Christmas would go with AKV/L - the lodge has a wonderful Xmas tree - and they have little trees in the halls.

WL/VWL - has a big tree in the WL - but also a small tree in the VWL - the WL also has trees on every floor. Love the fireplace (at both VWL/WL) in the winter time.

now stayed at OKW in Dec too - and the resort did not do as much as AKV or VWL. the difference was the guests staying at OKW did alot of decorations - don't know how it will look now - since that is not allowed anymore.

I might be wrong about this, but isn't AKV inside hallways, whereas OKW is outside hallways? At christmas, it could be a bit nippy, especially after walking to/from the bus and waiting for it. I'd vote for inside hallways. AKV.

I love OKW however for your time period I would chose AKL.

Reasons: inside lobby with fabulous tree that you will see every day coming and going.

Inside hallways, yes the weather can be iffy in December.

Covered walkway to and from the bus, again due to weather.

Inside access to quick service at Mara, again weather related.

The Lobby at AKL will probably look awesome. We stayed at WL pre-DVC in December 2006 right before Christmas and I booked based on the reviews I read on the Christams decoration and we were not disappointed. Plus, like AKL all the hallways are inside. But our weather was perfect low 70's the whole week.

I would go AKL for December....good luck with your decision.

The Lobby at AKL/V is awesome at Christmastime. Plus I think its an awesome resort so that would get my vote

I know you've already made your decision but just wanted to let you know that you made the right choice in AKV/Kidani. Two bathrooms is nice! We spent Christmas there in 2009. It was great!
