Well I had a great flight the other day for $178.00 but lost it, my questions is should I extend our vacation for 2 days to get a lower flight of $178.00 instead of $260.00. We are presently leaving on 11/27/02 but we are thinking of leaving on 11/25/02 now because of the better flight price? Do I change my dates or do I hold out for a better price for the day before Thanksgiving? Please give me all of your ideas or suggestions I really need help with this decision I'm at a loss right now.

UPDATE
Well I waited until this morning 4-3-02 to see what the prices had done, well they went up to $290.00 so my DH said add the 2 days and book the flight for Monday and not the day before Thanksgiving, so I looked at the seating and the three days the week of Thanksgiving we were looking at all the planes are half full or more so I booked this morning and I got $168.00 not $178.00 round trip direct flights at the times I wanted. However after I booked I went in to verify that my seats were showing as booked and would you believe 1 minute after I booked at the $168.00 the new price for that flight was at $225.00. So I'm happy and hope I made the right decision I don't feel I'm going to get it any cheaper than I did and I now have 2 more days in Disney and DH said I love Disney not a peep out of me for the extra days.

I would weigh the extra cost of two more days on vacation; room, food, expenses, etc. If you are still saving by getting the lower air fare, then go earlier. I can always justify a few extra days if I can afford it!

I recently had the same problem. I kept searching (hours a day) and finally found a price I could live with. Wednesday mornings are supposed to be a good time to book online since alot of the airlines computers reset themselves Tuesday night. I'd get up a little early Wednesday morning and check before you start adding days. I thought about doing that when I couldn't get the price I wanted, but finally found a good rate on Expedia.

See my other post regarding where to search for fares under the thread
