i really need some advice/motivation, please help:(

im 16 years old, 5'7' and i weight 145lbs.
i need to lose 20lbs

i used to be very athletic and i was very muscular, then when i got to highschool i had no time for athletics because im a musician and in every band at the school. (band geek iknow..) therefore all my muscle turned into fat:(
ive never been so uncomfortable wearing a bathing suit. :(

i bike for 30mins a day, and do 100crunches and 10squats.
i do this once a day.
but i do have a little bit of a junk food habit.

i need to lose weight on my upper thighs and my stomach.
any ideas?
 
Try not to snack too much. Whenever you feel the urge to snack or eat, even though you know you are full, chew mint gum or eat a peppermint. It like fools the mind or something! Don't even take a nibble of candy because you will crave it more. I'm not saying that you can't eat sweets, just throw some fruits in there too!! Try making smoothies with yougurt, honey, ice, and fruits.... I use sweeten low instead of sugar also, and try to avoid soft drinks, whole milk, and juices. Drink ice tea, 2% milk, and water. Also walking and sit ups help. Begin with a minute of sit ups and push ups a day.As you regain muscle, increase your time. I like kicking up and holding a handstad against the wall. That also helps with arm strength. Whenever I watch tv, I try to also do a little excersizing. It may sound stupid, but I love watching tv and if it helps to keepme in hape, I'm all for it. Don't add too uch salt or condiments to your food. Oh, jumping jacks are also great! I hope this helps!!!!!!;)

thank you so much ! the gum idea seems so simple im stupid to not even think of that.. but i think that'll work really good! I have good habits with drinks, i only drink water and milk and occasionally iced tea so YAY "woohoo: im gonna start excersising when i watch tv too !

I would also lie down on the floor and slowly lift and lower one leg at a time, and then do both legs at a time. That'll work both your legs and your stomach. You could do that while watching tv :)!

Also lie on your side and sort of prop your head up with your arm and lift your legs up, that'll work your legs and the sides of your stomach.

And finally, make sure to not do too much muscle conditioning, but also do some simple stretches (reaching for your toes, arm circles, etc.) so you keep your muscles lean and muscular and not just bulky and muscular :)!
 

I think that 145 is actually within the normal range for your height. It really isn't bad. Of course, if you are used to being thinner it would probably feel heavy for you. My advice, cut out the junk food. Eat fruits and veggies and lean meats. Try to stay active. You are young, so it really shouldn't be too hard.... Good luck!
 
You know, you're actually a HEALTHY weight the way you are. I calculated your BMI, which is 22.7 and that's in the healthy range (:

But, since you feel uncomfortable in a bikini, losing some weight shouldn't be too bad. Eat fruit to snack on. Most people don't like veggies, and fruit is normally sweeter and appeals to more people, so whenever you're hungry, snack on some fresh fruit! Avoid sweets whenever you can, and if you do eat gum, make sure it's sugar free. Eat one portion at dinner, that's all you need! And also, people tend to eat when they're bored, try to avoid that.

And if you don't lose your goal of 20 pounds, to worry, try for at least 10. Some people are built differently and just have different bone structures. And some people just don't have the fast metabolism other people have.
 
im trying to get in shape too, so we're in the saaame boat (:
(im tryin for sports reasons)

but yeaa, whenever i get hungry for junk food i just..
- chew gum
- drink water
- get as far away from food as possible
- chew on ice

but your workout is pretty good, and if you stick with it im sure youll reach your goal (:

and judging by your picture, you're already super beautiful! and your weight is in the healthy range (: but there's nothin wrong with gettin healthy (;

and i do eat when im bored ! so the gum/water/ice is awesome to know
 
First of all don't worry about your bikini, the only people who really care about how you look are your friends who should find the best about you anyway :) But if you are feeling a little insecure try going for a run, even if its just for a mile or two it adds muscle in all the right places. If you have time in your schedule you might want to try cross country, my freshmen year i was able to do both marching band and that as well as some dance classes (xc is a lot of fun too). Also DANCE!! even if its just to your ipod in your room, dancing can burn a ton of calories and its so much fun!!! I hope this helps, have fun (that should help with your wanting to work out too). Oh sorry one more idea haha, making a poster with clip outs of what you want to look like hung near the fridge or snack food area, (it really helps me out).
 
I am also 5'7 and am a band geek, who is joining marching band for the first time in August...! The gum idea should work well, and I don't know if you have heard of these, but I eat stuff like Veggie Chips instead of reg. chips, they are healthier, and taste yummy! :laughing: I also bike alot which helps.

yeah why the need to lose weight? That's a very healthy level!

A weight that is too low is just as bad as a weight that is too high
