The 30-day rule you mention is not a new rule. It's been in effect for quite some time.
The new rules effective 02/01/08 in regards to when a post can be put on the board have not changed.
We've actually eased up on some of the posting rules. For example maintaining a thread wherein simply making a reply post counts. Previously the reply post had to say specifically "Bump". On the other hand we have tightened the rules and affect for users who fail to properly maintain their thread.
There's a new posting category: "Trade Transfer" that someone can use for trading a
DVC-Collections reservation for a DVC Reservation.
We have no intention of offering a free service for 'commercial' renters to make contacts to sell their speculative reservations. If someone cancels prior to 30 days they get their points back. At 30 days they become holding points.
If someone needs to get cash for points one year, then they can post a "Points for Rent" thread.
Not everything is 30-days. Some are 6-months. For example if someone owns a Marriot timeshare somewhere and wants to trade if for a DVC-Resort reservation sometime, they can post it 6-months ahead. Or if a DVC owner would like to trade a DVC reservation for a Marriott timeshare somewhere, they can do that 6-months ahead of their requested date, provided the DVC-reservation is not already made. If the DVC reservation is already made, then it follows the regular 30 day rule. Again this is to prevent using speculative reservations, such as making a Christmas time reservation with the sole intent of renting it or trading it for something else.
