I need just really need to rant..
Here's the story:
I got tickets for the Evening with Harry, Carrie, and Garp book reading with J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, and John Irving(mostly excited about J.K. Rowling) at Radio City Music Hall for August 1st back in April or May or whenever the tickets went on sale.. at the time the plan was my sister(19y/o), friend #1(20), her mom, friend #2(17), and me(17).. we were supposed to ride a bus there that morning, hang out in New York all day, see it, and all take the bus home - my mom approved for my sister and I to go under these circumstances(aka - friend #1's mom was going)
Fast forward to the present - things have changed!
A) friend #1's mom isn't coming anymore.. instead it's one of friend #1's friends.. which was still fine until..
B) friend #1, her friend, and friend #2 decided to stay in New York over night(for $115 per person for one night = crazy) just so they can see the Mugglenet Mugglecast thing the next day!..
Well, my mom was a little iffy about them walking us to the bus stop Tuesday night - but I think she was still okay with it.. but then -
C) My sister has been called in to work at a marching band camp this week and can't go anymore! SO I emailed the two friends I could think of that would both enjoy it and be a mother-approved travel mate - and both of them have to work..
And at first we did have a back up plan, that my mom would go instead of my sister... but now my dad(he owns a business and my mom works there) won't even discuss her giving off Tuesday.. which really bugs me because other people just call off at the drop of a hat - and it's his wife - and his daughter's happiness here - I mean, I won't die if I don't go, but at this point it would mean the world to me if I get to.
But at this point I am not going - which leaves me with the awkward responsability of telling friend #1 the day before that I can't go(she was on vacation and gets home early this morning...)... it also leaves me with 2 tickets and the really bad feeling of being at home babysitting my brother all Tuesday when I know I could have been in New York seeing J.K. Rowling which is just killing me!
Sorry.. I needed to get that out of my system.. Thanks for listening..
