Let me preface this by saying that I have been having a lot of problems at work lately, with my new manager, and with our HR department. I have worked retail forever, and really have been wanting to get out of it, but do really love the people I work with and the customers.
We got a new manager a couple months ago in our department. None of us get along with her. She is very unfair, and doesn't take our suggestions or comments into consideration even though we have all been here longer than her. It all came to a head yesterday, after I got yelled at for something that wasn't my fault. I calmly told her that I didn't appreciate her treating me that way, and that I had a few other things to discuss with her.
I told her that our schedule wasn't fair, that none of us felt that we had any support from her as a manager, and that it was making our job harder. I also said "I feel as if maybe I'm not wanted here". She said "well, that's your decision to make". I had enough, I handed her my keys and left.
I have NEVER left a job like this before. I have always given my 2 weeks notice, and never thought that I was going to quit yesterday, but I had just had enough. I left the store crying. I stopped by the store managers office, and even though I was upset and crying at his door, he wouldn't get off the phone and told me to call him later. I was so upset that I just went home.
The good part of this, is that I already had another job lined up. I am going to start subbing for our local school district. It will be nice not to have to work retail hours during Christmas, but I will miss all my fellow employees. I think I'm still in shock from it all since I honestly had no intention of quitting, and especially not like that.
I'm just glad that my DH, Mom, Dad, and friends were all very supportive, and many of them even said "it's about time you left!".
So now on to a new chapter!

I can't ever remember quitting because I coudln't do the job! After all, if I didn't think it was something I might like, I sure wouldn't try it....
