Okay...I posted yesterday about my ticket dilemma - here's the deal. My mom purchased annual passes for herself, my dad and my son. I am going to go through one of the discount places that someone suggested yesterday and buy an 8 day Park Hopper pass. How does that work with the dining plan? My mother was told she could buy the dining plan when she got down there. Does that go for me as well?!?! Say I chose to buy a 14 day no-expiration - do I need to buy a 14 day dining plan?!?! That would really suck!

If you are staying at a DVC Resort on points, then you may purchase any ticket you choose. No need to all have the same ticket.

DVC members can purchase the Dining Plan without also needing to buy tickets. You do have to buy the plan for everyone staying in the room for each night of your stay. If the DVC reservation is for 10 nights, then everyone on the reservation has to buy the DP for 10 nights, even if they are only staying 8 nights. It doesn't matter what tickets you have - some could even decide not to buy a ticket at all.

You (or the DVC owner if that's not you) must call MS and add the DP to the reservation prior to arrival. This is very important. If the DP request isn't on your DVC reservation, you can't get it at check in. You pay for the DP in full when you check in. There is no minimum number of nights to stay to qualify for the DP.

Other than that, it works the same as the Dining Plan you can get by calling CRO & adding the DP to a package.

Sorry - what is MS?!? My mother was told she could purchase it when she got there. Do you have the number? I need to tell her to call and get it - I would be SO mad if we got there and were told we needed to purchase it beforehand.

MS is Member Services. It's how you make reservations. We can't post the number here, but your mom should have it with her paperwork. You have to add the Dining Plan at least a few days before you arrive, but you'll pay when you arrive.

MS is DVC Member Services, the reservation arm of DVC. Your Mom simply need to make sure MS has added the dining plan to her DVC reservation. She (or whoever checks-in first) will pay for the plan for the entire party for the length of the reservation.

Okay - thanks guys!! I think we have it under control - LOL! This trip is going to drive me nuts! :rotfl: She already has made the dining reservations we just don't pay for it until we get there!

OK...please don't be mad, but adding the dining plan to your room, is not the same as making dining reservations. Part of me thinks that she has the dining plan "added on" (but not paid for until check in) and the other part wonders if maybe she just has dining reservations.

I agree with Bobbi - your mom needs to do two things.

She needs to call Disney Dining to make reservations at restaurants (known around here as ADRs). This is "Sci Fi Drive In, June 3, 5:30."

She needs to call member services (or if she is renting points, she needs to have the person she is renting from call member services) and have the dining plan added to the reservation. If this is not done ahead, all food will need to be paid for out of pocket.

It is unclear if she has done both of these.

Oh, I should have made that clear - I made our ADR's months ago! That's why I was so concerned we were going to get down there and not have the dining plan :) So the ADR's have been taken care of! Thank you so much for your help guys!
