I would hope they would do this to justify the raise. But, since I haven't gone there since the DDP started, it's no big loss to me. I prefer TiW vs. DDP anyway.
IMHO, the change to 2 credits is appropriate. I prefer TiW to the DDP as well. The change will make an ADR easier to get for dinner at one of our favorite WDW restaurants.
Back when they had silver, gold and platinum, there were no 2 credit restaurants. We used to do the gold plan and you had 3 credits per day no matter where, Fultons was on dining credit, so was Cali Gril, so was Coral Reef. No difference. However I am not absolutely positive about the silver. I think you just received less meal credits per day.
Definitely not worth 2 TS Credits - I ate there last year in October. My meal was not something to write home about. The best thing about the meal was the Pretzel Bread.
I have a dietary restriction and the chef & waitress seemed put out to talk to me about it.
I was on the Dining plan and Shelly was dining with me and paying cash. The waitress was trying to up-sale her to the more expensive Combo Option (soup, meal & dessert) verses just getting the appetizer and main dish & dessert ale cart - which was cheaper with what she had for dinner.
I had spoken to someone about this the other day....a server at LeCellier had told them that they were hoping to start the process to become a signature restaurant and once they did become one, it would take 6 months to be a 2 crdit option. Don't know how true that is but thought I would put it out there!
You know I really think that this is another way Disney can, pardon my French, screw their customers out of their hard-earned money. I like Le Cellier and we have always had good meals there but I wouldn't use 2 credits to eat there.
I don't understand why people who pay OOP think this is a good idea so they can get ADR's; just wait.......they will increase their prices and not the quality.
*Maybe* they will increase the quality. I think some winds of change are blowing through the restaurants in WS. Disney knows full well that a lot of folks have been disappointed in the food quality of late.
If I had to guess, Le Cel and the new restaurants in Italy and Mexico are going to offer better food at higher prices or TS credits.

They will probably increase their prices a bit, but certainly not double them. Aren't there a whole host of DDP people who book there for the sole purpose of getting a decent steak for 1 credit at dinner? Some have said that this is directly responsible for the quality of the steak declining. If this cuts that phenomenon down, and I can actually get the ADR times I want at 6 months, I'll happily pay a few extra bucks.
I always thought the DDP as a whole was responsible for the decline in food quality. I thought Disney changed their food vendors and choices to cut back on the costs and still get a higher profit margin. Buying food in bulk and giving every restaurant the same homogenized choices would certainly do that.
Maybe I'm a cynic, but that was what I was thinking.
It will be interesting to see the impact this type of move will have on the free dining promotions. I would assume that this is just the first in what will be a gradual shift to 2 credit dinners in most of the better restaurants. Clearly, free dining is effective as a tool to fill rooms. If most of the TS dinners go to two credits though, I suspect FD will loose it's appeal. As it is, it only has appeal to me at a moderate resort because we have 4 dining plan adults in the room. Anything less and I would rather have the room discount and pay OOP for counter service.
