I called yesterday for price quote room only and UPH pass. (No dream maker package.) Called today and Finally Made Ressies (Only deal I had was AAA on room) at POR, Yahoo. Except......his first quote matched yesterday's quote, but later he said, "Oh-oh, I quoted you the price for 2003 for the UPH. The price for 2004 is .......I said, "I have to pay 2004 prices even though I am booking/paying today?" And he said, "Yes, because they will be USED in 2004." I let it go, but now it just seems kind of weird..... Opinions? Who would I contact?

I think that's right.

Why? Because the UPH is quite different from other types of admission media as it is tied directly to the dates you are staying in a WDW property. With a Park Hopper, you are buying X days of admissions into the parks. With a UPH, you are buying "come and go" privileges during the course of your stay.

How many days are you staying?

I have found that the UPH is rarely the the most cost-effective type of admission (for us). I only opt for it on the occasions when we've booked a package that requires it. But then, we're mostly theme park people. The equation might change for a family that hits both a water park and a theme park on multiple days within a short trip...

I would check out the price of the park hopper passes too. You can buy one now for use in 2004 and it might actually be cheaper since they could go up in price. Or if you are staying more than 7-8 days, the annual pass might be a good choice also. And it would give you a nice discount (hopefully) on your room in the future.

We are only staying 5 nights and will likely be making several trips to DD as well as doing a water park. Whew! :bounce:

Cinda...you only need a 5 day park hopper plus pass. That gets you into all 4 major parks on everyday that you are there, unlimited, gives you an admission to a water park as well. Downtown Disney requires no admission...the only thing there that you need admission for is Disney Quest....and that can be purchased separately once you get there if you decide you really have time to do the indoor arcade/interactive theme park. You just come and go and shop and eat in DD for free! I think the UPH is only cost effective if you are staying greater than 7 days...any other opinions on this?

Sounds like a fun trip!

When you say DD, do you mean you'll go to Disney Quest and Pleasure Island several times? It looks like that might make the UPH make the most sense.

It looks like the 6 day/5 night UPH and the 6 day Park Hopper PLUS (3 admissions to water parks or PI) are essentially the same right now. But DQ is included on the UPH and not on the PHP... and a single DQ admission is $33...

Uh, oh. I'm seeing how this can give someone a headache...

Did the UPH prices go up a lot from 2003 to 2004? If it went up much, buying a PHP now is looking pretty good...

Actually, the Annual Passes will frequently be more cost effective for stays more than 7 days. At least for those of us who mainly do just the major parks.

I think the UPHs usually come out better when you're doing a lot of water parks, DQ, PI and parks on the same days.

Most of us don't have enough energy for much of that!:p

:hyper: You are right about that!
And when the OP said DD, I was thinking the shopping...with 3 little ones :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: I haven't made it to Pleasure Island yet!!

Unless things have changed, this is how they charged us the last time we bought UPH. If you by the passes in 2003 and pay for the passes in full (not just a deposit), then they had to honor the current price. If you only put down a deposit, then you wouldn't lock in this years price. This is how it was explained to us but this was a few years back so it could have changed. We buy AP's now so I am not totally sure it is still this way.

..just did a lot of research on UPH vs. Park Hopper plus. Since the Ultimate are length of stay and we are arriving late Sunday and leaving early Sat. we'd basically pay for 2 days that we won't be in the parks. So even going to Disney Quest separately (which is a maybe) we should be money ahead.

Have a wonderful trip!
