I officially hate Epic Mickey

I have had Epic Mickey for a few months and it is a game with a fantastic idea and story. Unfortunately, the gameplan is so bad I cannot continue playing it. And I am very mad about it.

1. You cannot choose when you save. This ruins you both when you want to save after completing something and it doesnt. Then you die and lose everything you did. And it bites you when you mess something up and it saves when you didn't want to. So your only choice to "back that out" is to erase the game and start all over. AARRRGGGHHH!!!

2. It is impossible to complete the game 100%. Even with the cheat guides. Pins and other rewards are based off of choices. So chose A instead of B and you can never get a specific Pin or reward. Chose B instead of A and you can never get a different specific Pin or reward. So Frustrating!!!!

3. Things in the game must be done in a specific order. If you complete task B before task A, then you can never complete take A. Where if you completed task A first, you can complete them both. AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!

4. The camera angles at times are very frustrating. And sometimes the C button and Mickey vision don't work at all. And you are stuck with some crappy angle to try to jump to something. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!!!!

5. Once you FAIL a task, you can never complete it. The only way to "un-fail" something is to erase your game and start all over. And with a game that is so long, this is a huge undertaking.

The most disappointing is that the game is one of the coolest I've played. It is 80% totally awesome. But the 20% that stinks is so atrociously bad that it makes me want to beat my Wii and TV to pieces with a baseball bat.

Thanks all for listening to my rant and vent. I am done for now. :((

Sorry to hear you're frusturated with the game. I've been there many times LOL I don't have Epic Mickey yet, but after reading various reviews like this I'm not sure if I want to bother with it.

I bought Epic Mickey when it was on sale from Amazon a month or so agao. I haven't taken the shrink wrap off yet!

You are making me afraindf to even try the game! :scared1:

Epic Mickey is the kind of game where I'd rather just watch a film that plays out the storyline rather than actually have to play the game. As a video game, it's terrible. I gave up months ago.

Oh, dear! Anyone want to buy an unused copy of Epic Mickey??? :scared1:

Sayhello

Amazon will offer you a $25.25 gift card.
110 used copies are available on Amazon for $27 and up.

I bought mine January 18! Must have been under peer pressure. Wonder if I will ever unwrap it?

Hey, at least Epic Mickey ain't as bad as the 1st Toy Story game. Now that was a steamy piece of crap.

My friend lent me their copy after the finished it once and would never play again.

I have got only a little way into the game and have given up. It gives me really bad sick headaches if I play longer than about 30 mins, where as I can play a game like The Sims without headaches for hours on end.

I'm just glad I didn't pay for it. I so wanted to like it too!

I play it, but as soon as I "die", I quit for the day. Not a good game to play and play. Needless to say, I haven't gotten very far with it.

Disney is incapable of making a good video game. I had high hopes because of Warren Spector and all the hype, but nope, Epic Mickey is another Disney video game disappointment. I am not as a fan of outsourcing, but Disney just needs to give it up and let a real game developement company make their games.

Sorry, folks, but the hatred towards Epic Mickey is highly unjustified.

Sure, it has some faults, but it's still an incredible game nonetheless.

To those of you who haven't played it yet, do not let other peoples' reviews deter you. Play it and form your own opinions.

I share some of OPs complaints about the game, particularly the camera angle problem. DISNEY if you are reading this, the views in this game are unacceptable in some cases. I do not cherish the ideal of forcing Mickey to blindly jump to his death.
Now, I will state in both of my complete play through's of the game I have used the game guide step by step (so as not to complete task B before task A, although I did it unknowingly on my 1st play through).

I find the story line captivating and have gained a new appreciation for the vintage animation. Perhaps part of my fun is introducing my two little ones to Disney/Mickey in a new way. I am so excited to take them on Astro Orbiter this June - and I have never ridden it before - always walked past because I thought of it as a Midway carnival ride. But having some history to it and having experienced it with my kids through Epic Mickey it is now a must do! Also since learning about collecting Pins in the game I've started explaining pin trading to them and can't wait to present them with their first lanyards for our trip!

I can't wait for them to release a WDW based version but am hoping for some improvements (like multiple players!!!).

ETA- As I posted this I heard DS in the living room talking DD that he is battling the Blot (he's using his Oogie Boogie figurine to be the blot). :thumbsup2

There are some fustrating items about the game, I agree, but, the game was designed for you to make choices, so that you can play again and experience something completely new. I just finished it Sunday Night! It took me 30hrs of game play (with a lot of exploring). And now I have restarted/continued the same game again and I am experiencing something totally different.

I played a lot of video games as a kid, but, they all got sooo boring and in most cases were too easy to master. Now that I'm older and my kids do most of the gaming, this is first game I've been excited about in 10 years.

This game has its challenges, but, totally worth it.

Be patient with the camera. It takes getting used, but, it grows on you and itsn't that bad. Frustrating? Yes. But not that bad. I've experienced waaay worse.

Don't be afraid of the game.

The best part? My kids loved watching me play and getting to know all about Oswald and the "old" Disney history. I learned a lot too.

Normally I would agree with you, but I'm not going to pay 25 or 50 bucks for this game when it looks like another Zelda game is on it's way!

I guess I am in the minority here, but I absolutely love the game. I am not one of those people who tries to beat a game quickly. I like to enjoy the experience and play at my leisure. I really love this game because it has so much Disneyana and fun to it. The only thing that is annoying is the camera angles, but I can deal with that.

I'm sorry to hear that these things are making you dislike the game. You should write a letter to the developer with your complaints.

It's true that you can't do all the tasks and get all the pins in one playthrough but your information is saved once you have been through the game so the idea is to play again and make different choices so you can get all the pins, film reels and whatnot.

I played it into like the 3rd level and completely lost interest due to the horrible camera angles. I'm a Disney nut, but that's not gonna beat out the anger I have from trying to do a SIMPLE task. I didn't buy it, my bf did, but if it were my choice, I'd be trading it in for another game.

Aside from the obvious camera angle complaints, I LOVE this game too!!

A lot of serious gamers nowadays have been complaining about how EASY games have become. You can save at every scenario, you have a guidebook telling you exactly what to do, or even worse, it plays like a movie and you don't really need to do much to advance the story.

I think it's great that Disney has made this more challenging, and they made the replay value high because you CAN'T 100% complete the game in one go. That's the point of all the choice we get. It's like reading through one of those "choose your adventure" books and being disappointed that you can't read EVERY scenario because doing that doesn't give you a congruent story.

I'm not at the hating it point yet, but it's not floating my boat, either. I started playing it two weeks ago, and have popped it in a total of three times. That's rare for a game I'm excited about.

Frankly, I'm not a platform type of guy, and the start and stop gameplay is getting on my nerves. But I'm mostly bummed it's not open world. Why not just make an open world version of WDW you could roam at will? That would be actually epic.
