I am so sick of telling my co-workers that I am not the only disney dork in the world. Sure I may have license plate personalized as "DZNYDVA" and proudly sport my chrome Mouse ears in the front of my car. So what I have tinkerbell & mickey mouse as the cursors on my computer and a disney calendar on my wall. Who doesn't:confused3 ? Just because I listen to the Podcast and smile with joy while listening I am considered strange. But yet whenever they need assistance with planning their trips who do they ask...ME! Oh I don't mind helping anyone get to my happy place but I am starting to regret showing my love for ATD (All Things Disney) at my job.
Thanks for letting me vent!

Now I know how Anthony feels....;) Hi Anthony :yay:

I think all of us know how you feel. I was telling some people at a dinner party about the DISboards and all of the nice people on here and how they give great tips for visiting the parks and are really funny and most on here know and love Disney even more than I do, and they asked "how old are these people?" When I said that it is mostly adults on here, they all sort of chuckled :sad2: . They just don't understand- they didn't get the "Disney gene" that they sometimes talk about on the podcast. I am just thankful that I have it and can appreciate all that Disney has to offer!

I have to agree. I have the POTC calendar at my desk (and grossed everyone out last month when the pic was Davey Jones! They didn't know who it was!) All the pics in my office of my family are from various WDW trips! And I too listen to the podcast at work. Anyone else sick of hitting pause because you keep getting interrupted by people??:sad2: And then they heard my ringtone of the monorail spiel, I still haven't heard the end of that one! I just tell them it's a shame, but I'm glad to know there will be less people crowding the parks! I do have one co-worker that is also a DVC member, so she understands at least.

:grouphug: Group Hug for all the "Anthony's" in the world!! :grouphug:

My biggest "disney gene" moment at work came when I called into play the Disney Moms Panel example of marketing. This was during a HUGE meeting. Crickets.:lmao: :rotfl: But then I was blushing!

It's amazing to me that when you bring up examples about Disney marketing, which were fantastic ideas, people look at you like your 12 for knowing about it. I guess if I had labelled it with Apple, or Cingular, etc. I would have had a different response.

I definitely know how Anthony feels as well!

I told people we were going to Disney for our honeymoon, some thought it was perfect for me and expected it. Others thought I was a nutcase!

I had a dinner party experience recently too! The party host (who is a lovely person, I should say, but I'm certain she knew I was a big Disney fan) was questioning why any adult would want to go to Disney, and generally expressing annoyance at the fact that Disney claims to make "dreams come true." More or less, I just left it with a friendly "to each her own" sort of sentiment, a smile, and a change of subject.

I almost said "Hi, Anthony" out loud right then and there!

:sunny:

Hello! I am new here and have been a lurker for years but decided to join today. I too always get the " you are going again?" from fellow co-workers. They don't "get it" and that is fine with me....less people in the parks as far as I'm concerned! I love disney and have since I was a little kid. I had the "dancing Mickey" toy. Does anyone remember that? :o)

I go as often as I can and now my mom and son go also and we have a blast. My poor husband just goes with the flow but he wants to go somewhere else for vacation. I live in NJ and it is cheaper to go to WDW than the Jersey shore! So guess where we are going in September! :o)

I big "Hi, Anthony!" to everyone! Rest in peace, Bawb...... :o(

I have to say that while my co-workers, and family members, don't understand...at least they're tolerant! I listen to the podcasts at work and whenever one of my girlfriends walk in they start to laugh. Sometimes it freaks people out because they think someone is in my office with me!!

DH and I went on our honeymoon to Disney and all we heard was, "Why don't you go somewhere romantic (like Paris) like your sister did?" Well, all I have to say is they schlupped up 4 floors to their apartment every night and had to find food where as I casually walked up to the 2nd floor, had amazing dinners every night, and the best vacation I've ever taken!!

i feel the pain!

I keep reading really interesting stuff on here or the community board, (i may have got into a bit of an argument about washing towels :rolleyes1) So i want to ask others opinions, so i start with 'I was just reading on Disboards....'

Then everyone starts rolling their eyes and laughing at me!

Yeah well at least DIS doen't give you a hang over in the morning, i might vaccum at 9 am tomorrow :lmao:

I realized quite a while ago that most people (including my DH) just don't get my Disney/DIS obssession. After Bob passed, I had to talk about it with SOMEONE (& I mean talk, not type), so I talked about it at work. They all thought I was nuts until I pointed out that I listen to a WEEKLY podcast that's almost 2 hrs long (including e-mail show) & that's there's literally thousands of people registered on these boards. I convinced one of co-workers to Google "Disney info" & see how many pages came up. After that, they stopped bugging me about it.

Mostly. ;)

LOL, Just caught the "washing towels" reference from the post above. The Community Board scares me to death! I've learned to avoid it.
