Hey everyone,
I feel so much for all of the coastal dwellers here.

And I pray that everyone in TX and LA are doing okay. Ike just passed through Missouri today! I know it was nowhere near what everyone south of us has had to deal with, but boy was it scary! :scared1: We were at my parent's farm about and hour or so south of St. Louis this morning when it hit. I have never seen constant winds that strong in my life. We lost power about 6:30 am, and just sat around and watched and listened to the wind. We only had about 1 and 1/2 inches of rain, and the wind really didn't do much damage (which I can't believe). But then I heard about all the rain we had back home in St. Louis. Some places had 6 or more inches of rain in just a few hours time. Creeks backed up and flooded roads and people had to be rescued!

Who would have ever thought that Missouri would have 2 hurricane remnants come through the State in 2 weeks time! Hanna came right through, too, but it was nothing compared to Ike.

As scary as this storm was for us, I can only imagine what it was like to live through the full brunt of Ike!

I really hope everyone is okay out there, and that the damage can be fixed without too much work! My heart really goes out for you all!

It was horrible. I had water get in my house because the caps blew off my furnace stack and water was coming in that way. Luckily it was only in my laundry room. My dad brought over his shopvac and we got it all cleaned up. At one point there was an inch of water in there. Glad you are safe. You must have been down my way. I am in Hillsboro.

You mean Gustav... not Hanna, right? Hanna went up the east coast. Gustav got us good. Ike was nothing in comparison, we didn't even board up for Ike here.

Oops! Sorry, I did mean Gustav! There have just been too many of them this year!
Becky, I'm sorry to hear you had water troubles. I'm glad it was an easy clean up, though. We were lucky here in South County. Lots of rain, but luckily, nothing in the house. The farm, on the other hand, around Farmington, had more wind than rain.

You were right by my DH. He works at the hospital in Bonne Terre but he has to go to the Hospital in Farmington every weekend. He started at Farmington but when he changed shifts he went to the other hospital.

We had some pretty intense wind here today too! Rain was off and on, but the wind was awful!

We drove down to St. Louis today for the Rams game in all that mess. Here is a picture of what we had to drive through to get home.

And here are a couple of pics of the Gustav clouds heading out last week.

I am sorry you had to go to the Rams game. I watched it on TV they were OK till the end.

Wow the flooding of the road looks bad. How deep was the water?

It was probably a foot and a half.

SUV's were fine, cars were making it through but some in cars chose to find another route.

Those puddles are scary too because sometimes you don't realize until it's too late that parts of the road lie a lot lower than others.

I've never been directly affected by a hurricane (or tornado) but some of the photos I've seen are so scary -- I think I'd tuck my tail and run!!!

I'm from Lafayette,LA also and we survived Ike pretty well. We just got some strong wind and heavy rain but no damage. I had some tree damage for Gustav.

I am in NE Ohio and we got Ike last night. I am by no menas trying to make a comparison, but it was the strongest winds I have experienced short of a tornado. We were lucky and sustained no damage and kept power, but my neighbors were not. One lost a windshild as a branch went through it and another had a tree knock out his power. The tree also took out his smokehouse and his table.

Wow...those are some scary pictures!!

Thankfully, we didn't have all that water here, but we did have some very, very strong winds. It's knocked out power to parts of the city. Stop lights were out on my route to work too! It took an eternity to get here this morning! Saw lots and lots of tree limbs down along the way...

My area, south of Chicago, is terribly flooded. We got a mixture of TS Lowell off the west coast and Ike coming up from Texas and it dumped rain on us for three straight days! Roads are closed around my house, creeks are flooded, houses, businesses. It's just nuts. It's nothing like those good folks in Texas, but it's been a pretty painful weekend all around, especially if you're a Bears fan!!
