I now have a 10 year old..

Reading all your posts have brought so many happy tears, some I wish I could hug your posts have given me so many things to look forward to. Love the DIS you guys really do rock! thru your stories it has given me a new found inspiration and happiness and i'm looking forward to planning new things for older DD and younger DD who will be 6 next month, don't know what wild Africa trek is or Keys to the kingdom that another poster mentioned but will look into that. again I say thank you, thank you!!! and please continue to share :disrocks:

My DDs are 16 and 13 and they LOVE going to Disney, wearing Disney, Disney trivia, Disney-bounding, talking Disney...and Marvel! They like the Disney animated movies, but are now also into the Marvel movies, Once Upon a Time, S.H.I.E.L.D., Peggy Carter- Disney continues to provide cool stuff for older kids/grown ups.

They trick or treated as Anna & Elsa last fall. They still like to meet the Princesses! Actually DD16 spends a lot of time drawing them (see my avatar), which is really cool seeing her talent grow. DD13's wardrobe has shifted from purple sparkly to Avengers tees, but honestly she still would like to have a Belle ball gown. Things have changed since we started going at ages 6 and 3 but it's still fun.

Elder DD turned 11 a week ago and I felt the same way as OP: where did the time go??!? We're heading to WDW in about a month; I'm making DD5 some skirts and dresses with Disney fabric. DD11 asked if she could also have an Olaf and a Cinderella skirt to match her sister Of course! I'll support her being a kids for just as long as possible!! (so now I'm sewing even more!)

My oldest is 7 going on 17. I don't see her running around in her princess costumes anymore (like my 4yo still does, thank goodness!) but she is always wearing a Disney tee. This morning she sat and watched Snow White all by herself surrounded by her Tsum Tsums. She tries to be cool but I hope she'll always be a kid when it comes to Disney (just like her mama!)

My daughter turned 8 just over a month ago, and I am having a hard time with it. She is just like me in so many ways (loves Disney stuff, cats, books, etc.) so I hope she remains a big kid as she grows up, just like me :) Sometimes I think I should probably kind of act my age, but then I decide to just blame my immaturity on astrology (I am a Sagittarius so I am destined to always be an overgrown toddler haha). We are going to Disney World in October and we just love talking about, deciding where to eat and what to do, and she has finally come around to the idea of trying out rides other than Dumbo and the Magic Carpets! She may even allow me to spin the Tea Cups a little!

Not to be a debbie downer, but she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was 5, and when we were in the hospital and still coming to terms with it, I saw so many kids on the pediatric floor that were battling cancer and other things. So I always remember that although it is so hard to watch her grow up, I know that I am blessed because so many parents don't get to watch their's grow up :*(

I need to leave work and go home and hug her <3

anneboleyn I can relate my DD is so much like me too and you are so right it is a Blessing watching them grow, thank you for your post I love reading everyones posts this is such a great community :thanks:

Y'all have me blubbering at my desk. My DD is 6 and turning 7 in Nov. We are headed back this year in September. She's so excited but the other day she said "they're not the real ones". It made my heart ache a little bit. She is definitely starting, very slowly to pull away and it breaks my heart. She fights with me more, has more attitude and is starting to care way too much about how her friends see her (she refuses to eat food out of reusable snackbags because they aren't cool... too bad for her I refuse to waste ziplock bags and send them out into landfills haha).

My ds4yo (5 in nov) is still 100% a mama's little dude. He sticks pretty closely with his Mama. He still has a sweet little baby voice and still says things wrong (after praying he says "hey man" instead of "amen" and other adorable little things like that...).

I'm hoping a little Disney magic is what she needs to pull her out of her little miss attitude-ness.

Was anybody else TOTALLY reminded of Inside Out by this thread? I challenge any parent to watch that movie and not cry for the part of their childrens lives that are just memories now... I kind of want to cry right now... :sad1:
I bawled like a baby. Even DH (who is not at all emotional) said after it was over that he got choked up.

I also have a DD whom is 10 and feel the exact same way! It is amazing to watch them grow yet I want to hold on to her! I also have a DD whom is 6. Disney brings back the kid in all of us.

This is such a sweet thread. My DH and I do not have children...but at 46, I still have my Mama. I saw her last night and had a chance to eat a great steak dinner with both my parents and an Aunt and Uncle. What a treasure they are looking at them from the opposite end of the spectrum. Mama always walks me out to the car and kisses me goodbye each and every time. She did the same thing when I was 10. This year DH and I took my parents to Disney and had a spectacular time. You guys keep up the good work.

ToddyLu Thank you so much for posting this, sounds like you have a beautiful bond with your Mama, it's nice to read the point of view of the daughter thanks for sharing!
