I was married to a Canadian for 29 years and I don't recall ever hearing a single I'm sorry from her. I think that polite thing is way overblown.You could never be a Canadian (sorry). We have a four sorry per day requirement to maintain citizenship.
Double credit is given when you apologize for someone bumping into you and quadruple credit for apologizing to an inanimate object. I bumped into the table earlier and said sorry, so I’m good for the day.
