difficult time right now guys. I feel so embrassed to tell you guys that I have not been able to exercize the last few days. I am so consumed with the coverage on the war when i come home in the evenings that it feels wrong to pop that tape in over what's going on in Iraq. I know that sounds terribley stupid but it's true. Yesterday i came home and my nanny does'nt watch the coverage so the t.v was on perry mason or something and i just turned to cnn (3) and popped the tape in quickly over it and got 20 minutes in. But all weekend while i was at home i constantly watched and did'nt exercize but 30 minutes on saturday. I feel trapped by my own t.v. guys. Am i loosing it? Has this affected anyone else that uses tapes? When I heard sunday about them showing the marines that had past on t.v. i was so upset and that has affected my sleep at night. I am not the kind who can watch a scary movie but i'm consumed watching this scary t.v. most of the hours i'm at home. Crazy as it is i usually don't even get to watch much t.v. the triplets now have the t.v in our front room on there cartoons and i have the news on the living room. Usually they both just stay on the cartoons and i feel some guilt over that. I know I'm proabley the only one feeling this way but i have realized what i'm doing and how it's affecting my excerize and i just need to vent and try to correct this. I thought after a couple of days of keeping up with the coverage of this i would pull back some but that has'nt happened. I'm so worried about our men and women going in to baghdad right now that that's keeping me tuned in all i can. Do you guys know a good theripist.LOL I need to get back to my exercize and let some of this go it would probabley help with the stress of watching any of this on tv. Thanks for letting me air my problems here guys.

Tammy --
Stress affects everyone differently! Just wanted to pass along {{{{HUGS}}}}}}. I have a story of my own (but don't want to turn this in to a post about 'me') so I will PM you.

I hope i do see a pm from you. I would love to support you in your stressful time too. Thanks for the hug i needed it. I am gonna make it my goal today to only watch just enough to get the latest and stop it there. I need to get back to my routine in a bad way. Hope you have a great day.

HUGS!!!!! I think setting an amount of time you will watch television will help you. Maybe your Nanny can stick in the video while you are changing clothes and then you wouldn't have a choice;)

Hi, and HUGS, Tammy!

I know what you mean. Sunday I sat in front of the TV all day and just flipped from Fox to MSNBC to CNN over and over.

Turn that TV off!!! If you have to watch the news, set the timer on your stove for 10 minutes. That way when the timer goes off you have to leave the room. Before you run to turn the timer off, slip your video in and let it start playing. You can always rewind after you get back to the TV! :)

This war is making me very sad. My heart goes out to all the people who have been wounded, captured or killed. We are lucky to live in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

Try to shift your focus to things that make you smile. Being stressed out isn't good for you or your family. And we all want you to be happy and take care of yourself! :) Don't feel guilty for turning the TV off!!!!

I don't think you should be embarassed at all. Hopefully just posting made you feel a little bit better.

Sending you thousands of hugs and lots of feel better soon pixie dust! We care, sweetie! :) xo Now go exercise, LOL! :p

Okay, now listen up. You are going to make yourself ill if you keep watching the war coverage constantly. It is too emotionaly stressful, the news channels work at keeping the emotions high for ratings.

Now, I would suggest that you stop watching CNN, Fox, MSNBC or whatever and just watch the network coverage of the news. Just like in the days before these news channels came about, remember back then?

Watch the news at 6 and 11. Don't watch the 24 hour news channels.

You can't get sick. We need you here on WISH with us to help us stay focused on our goals.

On a happier note, I see that the tag fairy has been visiting the WISH board. I love all of those colorful new tags I'm seeing :)

Our Pastor on Sunday suggested that we all limit our exposure to the war news. While it is there for the watching, we don't necessarily have to. In fact, he saw it (and I do, too, now) as detrimental. Instead, just catch up on the headlines once a day. During the other times when you feel inclined to turn on the news, say a little prayer for our troops or for the Iraqi people instead. Every time you are swayed to turn on the news, just say a prayer instead and skip the news. God can do a lot more about this conflict than our sitting in front of a TV can do! It just seems that talking to God is more productive to me than watching Peter Jennings, would you not agree?

I really want to thank all of you that responded to my post today. You are an extremly loving group. I think you guys are right and I'm just gonna catch the headlines or use the stove timer to control my need to know what's happening over in Iraq. I vow to get myself back on track with my exercize starting this evening when i get home. I was doing so good really getting something in almost everyday of the week and really kicking butt on saturdays' so i could have my sundays's off. Well you all have inspired me to snap outta this funk i was in this morning when i wrote my post. I had a good cry this morning and sent my thoughts and prayers to our soilders and now i will continure to them but not go nuts staying up to the minute with the news on t.v. I thank you all for your kindness and helping me see this was not a good thing and helping me get motivated to change my habit.

I'm finding that exercise helps me to deal better with the stress - not only because of the war but also all of the other stresses we have in our daily lives. I'm feeling kind of stressed these days due to DH's upcoming retirement. It's mostly good stuff I'm stressing about, but there are a lot of important decisions we're having to make over a very short period of time that will affect the rest of our lives. We hadn't expected to be doing this for about 4 yrs, but the state offered an early retirement incentive to it's long term employees which was too good an offer to pass up.
As to the war news on TV, I find it does help to limit my exposure. I usually love to watch the news channels but it's just too much for me right now. Hang in there & turn the TV OFF!

Tammy, I use my timer for everything. You are so strong, I know that you can limit your tv watching to just the news! Go for it!

I did it with the help of my husband we cut off the news this evening and did a 2 mile walk together! I'm so proud i feel i'm back on the right track now. I have not really sit down and watch the news tonight at all. I listened to it some while cooking supper tonight but that's about it. Thanks everyone for the boost to stop what was becoming a back habit of staying glued to the war coverage. I will set a new goal to do it all over again tomorrow.

Good job, Tammy! I'm sending a thank you {{{HUG}}} to your husband for helping you with this.

Oh...and a {{{HUG}}} for you just because :)
