My best friend has moved away. She wasn't just any best friend, she'd been my bestie since the first day of Kindergarten. I'm sad all the time and I always feel like crying. I don't want to fall into a deep, dark, depression like I did last summer (long story) but it appears as though I'm already falling into it right now. What do I do to cope with the loss of my best friend?

Well, first of all . My advice would be to cry if you feel like crying, because although it's horrible while it happens, you'll probably feel better afterwards. Also, do stuff with your other friends because they'll support you and try and make you feel better. I hope you feel better about it soon, it's horrible when a close friend moves away.

first of all, im sorry.. this is a really tough situation. secondly, i think you should definitly keep in touch with this girl. if she means so much to you put as much effort as you can into skyping, texting, even snail mail if it comes down to it. also, i think you should tell someone how you feel.. as helpful as the people on disboards can be, you should tell someone that know about the last summer thing and knows if you are medically depressed. maybe a trusted parent or sibling? maybe another good friend? or even a teacher that can just tell if you are upset or not. i know this is a really hard situation, right now im going through a move too, and im scared to death. keep you chin up and your brave face on, but cry when you need to!

Sorry about what happened, first of all. And I'm kind of in the same boat as you. My best friend moved away to go to a different college. Although she comes home every holiday that she can, I still miss her. I'm going to visit her in a few weeks, we keep in touch with Facebook and we've promised one another that when we graduate college that we're going to move in together.

But I'm not as depressed about it as you seem to be. My first day at college I was terrified because I didn't have my bestie with me. I've thankfully made a few new friends and although I do miss her I'm not depressed at all!

So I guess the best advice I can give is keep in touch and maybe even (I know it's hard) move on. Even though she is your best friend, there are lots of people out there who can be your new best friend. You just have to think positively and be open.

Good luck. :thumbsup2
