Wow... I only have 2 weeks and 4 days until my wedding
. I'm truly envious of all of you that are having a DFTW!!! Perhaps if I'd done that (if I could've afforded a custom), I wouldn't have run into this problem.
As my Fiance is a musician, we decided that rather than having a DJ at the ceremony (outdoor wedding) and reception we should have a brass quintet made up of musicians that he has known. Late in December, once we had our date ironed out, we went to these people and asked them if they would be able to play for us on May 21. They all agreed... so I was thrilled.
Fast forward to February... as I was really heavily working on wedding plans, I asked DH2B if he thought he should go ahead and set some rehearsals up, just to get them booked. His response: we have 3 and a half months left- I'm going to wait until it's a little closer. I got the same response in March and in early April. UGH!
That's what I get for not riding him about it I guess. He'd initially been a procrastinator, but had turned over a new leaf for about the past year/year and a half... unfortunately, his subconscious chose this time to regress.
Fast forwarding again- mid April. DH2B finally gets a rehearsal nailed down-
. I thought all was well... but apparently DH2B and my brother (who volunteered to be our tuba player for the quintet) were patronizing me, trying not to stress me out
Like they could keep me from stressing...
They never told me that one player only stayed for half the time... they never told me that some people didn't come prepared (as he had asked) with their schedules so that he could work out another rehearsal.
Fast forwarding yet again- to last Wednesday. DH2B set up a second rehearsal for today (Wednesday). He emailed all members involved and got confirmations from all but 1 by Thursday. Monday: no response. Tuesday: DH2B sent another email to the person who hadn't responded (note: same person that stayed half the time... ). Tuesday night- 8pm: Receive an email from person in question that Wednesday won't work... and the following 2 wednesdays *might* work. Key word: might. Really, what it boils down to is that this person isn't reliable and puts all social functions above rehearsing for us even though we're paying a good amount of money.
So... after quite an argument with DH2B (he nonchalantly mentioned all of this to me and then wanted to go to sleep...
) We decided to send the person in question a response email saying that we wouldn't be able to do the quintet after all. We also decided to have a duet or a trio. So hopefully (fingers crossed) they will rehearse and it will be okay.
Well... that feels better.

for you. I know it must be stressful but hang in there. It will all be worth it in the end. Congrats on your upcoming wedding
.
Three weeks after the wedding, we got a tape in the mail that was from the back of the church with horrid sound; he didn't zoom in on us very much during the vows and forgot to have a microphone set up in front! UUGGH! I am going to take the tape to some computer wizards and see if they can transfer it to DVD now and pull the voice track out as well.
! "Double happiness" for you
