Hi all. So we're selling a riding mower- good condition with a roller attachment. It's only about 3 years old, works just fine. Would this be a good thing to try to sell on Craig's List? Has anyone ever sold on CL before?? Or are there any other suggestions on how to sell this?

We had a riding mower that was about 3 years old and listed it on Craig's List. Had a few people call about it, one couple came and looked at it and bought it. Very easy transaction.:)

Did you request that they pay with a certified check? I'm thinking that's the route we'll probably go.

I have purchased a treadmill on Craigs list before cash deal If I ever sold anything there it would have to be a cash deal only With all the clever ways to forge things lately I wouldn't trust something that looked like a certified check or money order

I just sold one. I called the John deer dealer. They looked it over and decreed it needed an oil change. That was $15. Then they sold it on consignment at their shop. They took 15%. It was a good deal all around. I got substantially more than I thought. The dealership with whom we'd had a great relationship made some money and presumably the new buyer thought they got a deal.

Just sold my Mom's old JD mower on Craigslist last summer. Very easy transaction and it sold within a week. Put pictures in your post, they make a big difference. If you are posting with your bottom line price, make sure to note that in your listing, otherwise be prepared to negotiate. Craigslist is for cash, stay far, far away from anyone offering anything else. It is also for pick up only. If anyone wants something shipped, it is most likely a scam. Also, just a note from my personal experience: not all people text, make sure you have an alternative way to communicate.

Find out if there is a local to you Facebook group for selling things (there are a few near me, and I joined them just to browse once in a while) I think that would have less scammers in general because it uses your real name and it tells you who someones mutual friends are so people might be more honest and up front.

Oh, and in my area the local AM radio station has a 'tag sale' program every Sunday morning for two hours and you can call in and describe your item to the host and give your phone number and people will call you directly. Maybe you can find something similar where you live.

How much are you looking to sell it for? My father in law is looking for one due to their larger yard. Maybe PM me?

I sold a rider about 6 months ago on craigslist- lots of interest and I got a great price for it! Cash only. Man came, mowed 2 strips in my lawn, checked over the engine and we loaded it in his pickup. You could also try your local yard sale groups on Facebook - I sell lots there and it's a little less shady than Craigslist....
