I want one for daughter to carry in her carry on for our trip. I dont want to pay an arm and a leg. Any suggestions? I dont want a bulky one either.

We have owned about 10 of these in the past few years. They never seem to last for some reason...

Actually we have bought 2 each time the last 2 times we found them on sale. My opinion is just buy a cheap one as they are all about the same.

We have had the same problem!! My 4yo is on her 6th! This time I got one to secure to the car seat. I figure if she can not touch them with sticky hands they may last longer!:confused3 :rotfl:

What about the mp3 players w/video players as well? I know the screen won't be very big, but our kids have the Disney Mix Max ones and love them. Now that we have figured out how to rip the DVDs and load them up, it is great. They have expandable memory so we bought some memory cards and now have a mini library of their favorite movies/shows. They are very manageable to carry and also hold songs, books on CD and photos. I just saw a similar item (mp3 player w/video and photo but not Disney mix max) for sale for $50 in one of the Sunday flyers.

I'm really glad you asked this, because I have a similar question. I have seen portable DVD players that you can plug an ipod video into...has anyone used one? What did you think? We have had NO luck with DVD players in the past, but I was curious as to what people thought of these.

I bought my first one at least 5 years ago.GPX or something like that. From Circut City....7 in. screen.

THe second one I bought two years ago at K-Mart an 8.5 screen and all the attachments, and internal battery to charge. My kid used it for midnight security work all the time.

My older son bought my grandson one from Sam's Club. He mounted it between the two car seats so he can view not touch. It plays every single day in the kitchen while the daily things go on in that area of the house.

We took our on the plane last year. One tip is good earphones to block noise or else just play the audio. If it is dollar store head sets they are not loud enough for backgroung plane noise.,

I would check out online at Circuit city, Smas club and check for the sale at K-Mart.
They are auto plug, AC, and battery power. Make sure to charge before travel.

We have actually had ours now for about 5 years- it was a cheapie minetek and it works great. The only problem is the small battery- it only holds a 2.5 hour charge. I saw there are a bunch on the market now with longer batteries- if you have a longer flight planned, you might want to consider that. Sony has a nice looking one nw.

I bought my kids the new Ipod Nano. It plays their music, they can look at all our past Disney trip photos, and we can download their favorite movies and shows on it!! They are small and easy to carry. My kids are 9 and 4 and my 4 yr. old knows how to work it already! I think the DVD players are so bulky and heavy. The price was the same too. Also no movies to have to lug around! DD's Ipod was $200 and DS's was $150(the price difference is because of how much they can hold, I believe the $200 one is 8 gig?) The one my DS has we fit a ton of music and photos and he has 2 full length movies, and a bunch of shows like Mickey's Clubhouse and still has room for more.

Another option would be the new PSP. DH has this and loves it. He had the old model and just got the new one. You can also load your music on it, play video games, and watch movies.(The screen is a lot bigger than the Ipod Nano.) They sell a large selection of movies and you can get the movies for a good price on Ebay. DH always takes this on the plane. You could hook up earphones to it too. I believe it is in the $200 price range.

I just thought of another option, fly JETBLUE!!!;)
Their tv's are great and they have the cartoon channels too. My kids love it but I bring other things for a back up in case they don't find a show they like.
