I need someone to tell me something

yep, on the off-chance that was true, it probably won't last long. :thumbsup2

Sorry to sound mean but I don't think yavn would just up and make a kid a tester. I think a lot of times the testers and staff members have an inner circle of people of who they like. It is very hard to get into this little circle. And it is very easy to slip away from this circle.

It is a case of favortism when there is a separate group that gets things before other people. If it is people on the VMK payroll, that is one thing, when it is people playing the game chosen over other people playing the game, it is another.

Like I told someone else in a pm, I can not speak for Yavn on the subject of favorites. He probably does have them like anyone else. I think we all have favorite people we deal with on the game.
However, when my son told me about this originally, the names he told me did not sound even remotely familiar to me. They didn't sound like the ones I usually hear about in any manner.

But, I do know that we as a group have done a lot of complaining about stuff on the boards here, sometimes quite validly, like the unfair bannings, but quite often about the way things are run, items not made or made, and so on.
And, yes I've been guilty of both.:)

I think this group, and from what I gather I don't think they are the testers, or may be some, but certainly not all of them:), was to gauge people's reactions to new items. Without hearing a lot of grief before they even got put into place. Because I think we all realize that some of the staff do visit these vmk boards here and elswhere.

Ok first i would like to say at no time during this am i trying to call anyone within any forum any where a lier.

I find this extremely difficult to believe still that Yavn would choose a player within vmk that has really no connection to vmk other than as a player to show all his works in progress too, just seems too risky!! I also find it very difficult to believe that Yavn would not have a Community Leader or something such as that be a person to "show" stuff to again sounds way too risky. If i had a game that was in development stages , which believe me even though released vmk still is, I sure would not be showing stuff off to players who i did not know personally in fear that maybe just maybe there are other developers out there looking for ideas , could be just me but idk. :confused3 If this is true this child is one lucky kid and i am very jelous that i have been so nice to Yavn this entire time , by giving him space being polite telling ppl to ask things one at a time ect, just to be made a patsy of !!! oh well thats life i guess

I think it is the use of the term "tester" that may be throwing everyone for a loop. Testers are specific players who are well known to the rest of VMK and get more than a "preview" of an item or items. They receive things days or even weeks (or months for some of the magic pins) and often have rooms to showcase the coming items. Alyuel is one of them. I have never been clear on whether the are program staff of the software company, Disney cast members or what although VMK staff speak of them as if they were indeed fellow employees. Everytime that Yavn or Staff are asked about "how do I become a tester" the response is always "have to be hired by the company".

Now, from the beginning of VMK, a handful of players have been receiving the occasional item gift ahead of the rest of us. Sometimes as a gift, sometimes as a prize in a host game. I remember when the candy caudrons were handed to three regular players a few days before they were announced as the maze prize for Halloween. What an outcry there was over that but it was a case of being in the right place at the right for two of the guests and I don't think they have been singled out since. So it may be that your son is in that fortunate position.

Or, now that there is a much greater population in VMK, perhaps Yavn and the others feel the need to have a core "target" group to try out new things. If that is the case however, I am curious as to why they did not start out by recruiting Community Leaders who have already demonstrated interest and dedication in the game. Or, even better, have "apply to be a tester" deal like they have to apply to be a Community Leader.

Ah well, if your son has been recruited, I hope he enjoys every minute and congratulations to him.

Actually he got the tester thing kind of by accident, long story, and I don't think he will have it very long.:) I have wondered if the quest group wasn't to find out how to teach, lead, train or whatever the new testers. I don't think the group are the testers. Because I recognize the names of some of the testers, but not the quest ppl. And as far as we know, who knows, they may have the same try outs as the community leaders at some point in the future.:) I think anyone trying to guess anything with this game is a joke most of the time. They love to keep us guessing:).
And of course all we can do is keep making educated guesses.;)

He may have actually been doing you a favor, though. Mal has already pointed out the potential problems with the 'job'.:) You could surely have your regular gaming time severely interrupted. Now in my son's case, he likes to wander around more and talk than play the games. Which is why he is always broke in credits!:) But, since his game playing time is low, why not be useful elsewhere? Believe me he hasn't gotten much (materially) out of the deal except entertainment. (Yavn teases him with a lot but either withholds it or takes it back out of his stock.):) But, I can honestly say that my kid is a marketer's dream! We found that out when he was only five. He was used by a local company for testing kid's toys, and you talk about enthusiastic! I think that may be what these people may have been 'tapped' for. When you dangle something in front of him, he will definitely let you know if he likes it! :rotfl2:
So you may have been very lucky now that I think about it.....:)

I see this person with like 50 pairs of narnia teleporters. How do you get them now?
Didn't this thing get yanked a little off topic? Why not just (try to) answer the original question without injecting all the sour grapes?

I must say to that one, if that person isn't staff or a tester they sure have a lot of time on their hands!. Shoot, I've tried keeping two browsers open to play the Narnia game for the teleporters, and that could have been a full time job. :teeth: I read here where someone was keeping several windows open doing just that! Sheeesh! :rotfl2: My fingers would be tied up in knots.;)

No personal attack, just what I think:

I just want to say that I dont blame yavn for picking favorites.

As you all know, you choose favorites in your life. Lets say you're walking down the street, and you see this person that is just something you'd never want to be. You just ignore that person. Everyone picks favorites ALL THE TIME. I wouldn't blame yavn for an act that everyone does.

Its also just luck. I read that you had to be there at the right time stuff.
Yeah, so what? If you were there you were there. His luck. Why should people be like that if another person hits the jackpot? We should be congratulating him, not saying, "Hey! That's not fair!". We all want to be testers, and that's how its always going to be.

No one that I have read is saying "hey!that's not fair!"

they are saying it is not right. SO instead of beating this horse to death and since no one has any idea how anyone could get 50 Narnia Teleporters and the way to get them for most everyone is still the Narnia game, trade or be gifted then I think it is probably just best to end this now.
