I may or may not be flying solo however either way I am scared to death of heights. So I need tips on how to survive getting though the airport and surviving the flight

I already thought to bring my MP3 player what else is there. Also are there any songs you recommend that will help me relax in the airport before I get on the plan

I strongly advocate education, and not drugs. There are many fear of flying websites and forums. Visit them, and educate yourself on what all the noises and sounds and bumps mean when flying. Learning about the technical side of flying can be very reassuring as it helps to understand why air travel is so safe.

fear of heights should not be an issue. your feet will never leave the floor.

I would get an aisle seat. The last thing you want is to be looking out the window.

Statistically, you're much more likely to die in a car crash.

You're more likely to die just walking out your door, never the less getting in the car. People have fear of flying but are more likely to die getting to the airport for their flight then actually flying to and from their destination.

I have a huge fear of flying/heights too and I never let it stop me from flying...sometimes there are a few tears on take off and landing (especially when flying alone) but I am getting better..the ipod really helps and the inflight entertainment system on Air Canada allows me to watch tv's/movie's on demand from when I sit in my seat to the moment we get to the gate at my destination (really helps with the taking off part) another thing I like to do is wordsearch's. I find that if I just focus really hard on finding the words in my wordsearch I tend to forget that im flying at all...maybe wordsearch's doesnt work for you..but maybe suduko?crosswords? any activity that requires concentration really helps!! Good Luck!!

I'm not sure if that is going to make the OP less scared about flying or more scared about walking out her door and/or getting into a car :hippie:

Tell your flight attendants about your fear of flying.
Sit as close as possible to the front of the aircraft, if theres turbulence you will feel it a lot less there.
Take something non electronic to entertain/distract yourself for the take off until ten thousand feet and ten thousand feet unitl landing (the time when electronics are not permitted)
