We are hopefully going to WDW in early May for a conference for my DH. It's being held at the Yacht & Beach Club where we would be staying for the 4 nights. I would like to spend another 6-7 nights either at this resort or perhaps CBR, POFQ, or the Swan/Dolphin. I have only stayed at ASMO on site before. I am trying not to spend a fortune but I also want my DH to have a great time (he really isn't looking forward to the trip too much because I drive him crazy talking about it all the time!). Do you think we'd be disapointed with any of the other resorts after spending our first days at the YC/BC? I would just like some honest opinions. We do not spend everyday at the parks as DH likes to relax and do nothing on some days. We will also have our 4yo DS with us. The conference rate we'd get is $229. Is this a decent rate for the YC/BC? I would appreciate any advice anyone might like to offer.

I have stayed at allot of the Disney resorts including the Yacht Club. It was a great stay. All the Disney resorts are fun and shouldn't be disappointing. I have moved on one trip from the Grand Floridian to the Wildreness lodge and then to the moderate Coronado Springs resort and we loved it. The rooms at the Yach Club are nice but not so nice that you would miss them. The pool is great and it is possible that you might disapoointed in any other after that. The location is great too.
If you want to switch resorts and save monet but still be in the same area, try for the Swan/Dolphin with an Entertainment rate. I just booked a May stay at the Swan for $174.00 on a resort view room. There is the big grotto pool there and you will still have the great location.
To save even more money you could go to Coronado Springs which is themed nicely and had a great pool too though not as good as the Yacht Club.

Honestly, I am a Beach Club Lover and am not a big fan of staying anywhere else (although i am open to it). Anyway, going from a Deluxe to a moderate has not been an easy thing for me....what a little brat i am. But if you are going to stay at a moderate, i suggest Coranado. This was my favorite before we experianced the BC. They have a wonderful pool for those days when you want to relax. I'm not sure about the $229 rate. It's about $70 cheaper than the regualr price i think, but think about how often you go to Disney and about staying at a NICE resort like the BC. It's near many wonderful things unlike any of the moderates. Swan might be a good choice because it's right in that same BC area.:smooth:

Yacht Club is our favorite resort. We've stayed there three times, none of them in off season, and always paid less than $229. We have had AP rates and codes. Last year, we ended up going in July and I think we paid $189, but we had had May reservations for $209 that we cancelled. In other words, it's a pretty good rate, but you MIGHT do better. Untils codes or speicals are out, though, it IS the best rate.

The first time we stayed at YC, we moved from there to PO for six nights. I was worried about the move, but it was fine. Of course, we would have rather stayed at the YC, but we were paying a lot less. We would have trouble moving now, but we have three kids who have gotten a lot bigger, so crowding is areal issue.

The Yacht Club is an AWESOME resort!!! The Yacht Club & Beach Club just went thru a renovation of their rooms and carpeting, so you will be sure to have a nice brand new spanking room! :D

Once your room is booked at either YC or BC, have your husband inquire as to whether the conference sponsors have setup discounted admission to the parks. I've seen conference information set-up at WDW facilities where the organizers actually made agreements with WDW for 1-day, 1-park admission to 5- & 6-day admissions at a discount after, say, 3PM.

I'm sure you'll have a great time!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! YC RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
