I need some help, please....

I think I can do this, but I need the experts opinions.

1. I have OKW ressies for this July using my VB points. At this late date, can I keep those same ressies but use different points instead (BWV points)? That way, I can bank my VB points (which I have plenty of time to do and use them later).

2. Assuming I can do the above scenario, I would then have enough points to book a GV. How hard is it to get a GV in the summer at 11 months out? I am not picky about the dates, as long as it is summertime and 5 weekdays. Do you call day to day for something like that? If it is really hard to get then I wouldn't even change my points around for this July's trip. But, at 11 months out, I would assume it is possible.

Answer to question 1 is yes...You can switch which points to use after the reservation is made. As long as the Switch is in the 7 month window. Ex switch vero points to BWV must be in 7 month window for BWV points.

I'm sure this is an area where even MS will give you varying opinions. MS can certainly do it but I suspect they will not. Lets say they mistakenly used the wrong points, you could then ask them to change them out and I'm sure they could. In you're case you'd be cancelling the current reservation and rescheduling. If there was a waiting list, the reservation would go to the next person on the list. Let us know what happens but I bet they won't let you unless there are vacancies anyway.

Yes, you can probably do what you request. If there are still rooms available, it will be easy to make that switch. If rooms are NOT available, then the re-allocation will have to be done manually- by a supervisor. Call MS, explain what you are trying to do (also about the VB-GV) and let them help you accomplish the goal!

Just for clarification, the reservation "window" applies to the date of the reservation not the use year of the contract. For a July reservation at any resort, you are well within the 7 months and can reserve using points from any DVC ownership.

That makes me feel better. Does anyone know how hard it will be to get a GV at VB next summer? If I change my points around now and then in July (11 month window for VB) CAN'T get a GV, I am going to have a TON of VB points that will end up going to waste (I have points at other resorts so I won't need my VB points for there). Does that make sense?! Thanks again. You guys are great whenever anyone needs help!

Let us know what you f ind about changing the points, I hope for your sake that Doc is right. It was not my understanding that this was the policy but they DO have the ability to fix it if they want to.

Make sure the points you change can be used at the time you want them to. If they were borrowed, they will not be able to be returned. Since you're apparently talking about next summer, make sure the points can be banked if you need to.

I think getting a VB Beach House will be difficult, but not impossible even calling day by day and when they open. I'd definitely call at open every day and add each day individually. Good luck.
