I'm leaving my boys for the first time this weekend. We're off to a graduation on the East Coast. My mom and grandparents will be here to take care of the kids (they're coming in today and we leave Friday so they'll learn the routine).

We've only left them with a babysitter once, and they were our good friends. My mom also watched them one afternoon. However, they were really little (like 3-4 months). I think they're a lot more aware now (just starting the "cry when mom leaves the room" thing) and I'm just really upset over them not understanding why I'm not here and that I'll come back.

Ugh, I should also mention that I cried the whole way home the first time I dropped my dog off at the kennel. I can only imagine what shape I'll be in this weekend.

So please pat my head, and tell me I'll be ok. Or more importantly, the boys will be ok and I'm not scaring them for life!

They WILL be FINE and YOU will be FINE!! :grouphug:

All kids should be so lucky to have parents that CARE like you do. BUT, you're parents raised YOU and HEY, you turned out okay, right!!

I totally hear you though, I was the SAME way....and still am a bit "over protective even NOW and my child is a TEEN, so it never ends:rotfl2:

You being able to RELAX a bit (your trip) , will actually make your kids lives EVEN better...you'll be more relaxed and they'll just wanna cuddle right up when you return. Have Fun! :grouphug::grouphug:

**those two pumpkins are just the SWEETEST!!!!**

You will be fine and they will fine! They are in great hands. Relax and enjoy!

I am an only child, so when I had children, boy were my parents happy! They have been taking my kids for overnights since they were about 4 weeks old. They are 7 and 9 now and are incredibly close with my parents. I think the bonding time they had was very beneficial. It also helped my husband and I remain best friends by still keeping our relationship alive.

Just think of how good they feel and smell when you get back!!!!

Enjoy! I think my oldest was only 4 months old when I left her for the first time, and I've left everyone many times by now! Don't worry - I don't think mine even knew we were gone - I think time passage is different for babies/toddlers/children. The first time was the hardest, but now I just get giddy - we're going away a few days next month, and I can't wait!:cool1:

Awww, you'll be fine and so will your precious boys. The first time I left my girls it was very hard, but it was a good break for me to take.

As long as they are in the care of loving individuals, they will be absolutely fine. No scarring at all! They will not remember it (of course, you will!!). And think of how wonderful it is that your mom and grandparents can spend this special time alone with them.

Enjoy some time off, I am sure it is well-deserved. Have fun at the graduation! :grouphug:

You will be fine!! They will survive and you will enjoy sleeping during the night. Enjoy your time off. :) Yes, you will miss them but make sure you have fun while you are away!

When our son was 27 months old we had the opportunity of a lifetime to go on a 25 day tour, all expenses paid, to the south pacific. Including New Zealand, Australia and Fiji. We could not pass it up. We left him in the very capable hands of our inlaws and my mom. He did fine and is now a very productive 21 years old. They are beautiful little guys and will be none the worse for wear.....go and have a wonderful time. Enjoy your time being kid free. Have a great trip!

We left our oldest for the 1st time when he was 15 mos old for a 5 day trip. I worried for weeks ahead of time and almost canceled. About 30 minutes down the road I was fine- missed him but never worried or felt bad. Our boys are now 11 and 8 and we leave them with the inlaws at least once a year for a 3-5 day trip. Sounds like you are blessed with loving family members who are even willing to come to your home. The kids will have a great time !! My kids feel like they go on vacation when we leave. The Grandparents take them to lots of movies and gocarting. My mother in law even lets them stay up as late as they want (I think she just wants them to sleep till noon) Have a great time!!
