I need some great restaurant choices

Ok, we are a family of 4, DS4 and DD3. We are looking for QS/TS & possibly Signature restaurants that will suit. MY DH and I are both foodies with good appetites. The children are fine once the food comes out but we have to keep them occupied prior to that time. They are not fussy and whilst they do enjoy the standard (read; lousy) children's menu foods, they are not opposed to different or unusual foods.

We are thinking that they may not have the patience to let us eat a signature meal so we may be resigned to room service when we want something leisurely.

What QS restaurants are good? Do any of them offer something different from burgers and fries?

What TS restaurants will satisfy all of our needs? We are interested in a few character meals. We are also interested in really tasty food. Is there anything that particularly stands out these days?

We are planning on doing Tables In Wonderland so we are not tied down to Dining Plan restaurants but we are not opposed to them either. We will be paying OOP for all other meals.

Does anyone have an up to date TIW restaurant list. The one on Allears seems outdated?

Does anyone know what Boardwalk Villas room service menu is like? Again, Allears still has menu items from Spoodles on the room service menu. Do they offer food from Kouzzina on the room service menu now?

Does anyone have an up to date room service menu for AKL? I don't suppose there is any chance of getting Jiko's Fillet with Red Wine Sauce and Mac & Cheese in our room is there? I don't think our kids will make it very easy for us to eat there, so it's either in room or not at all.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

A few places come to mind although I love alot of the restaurants around the world.

QS: Earl of Sandwich in DTD, Morocco, England

TS: Our favs are: Raglan Road, Jiko, California Grill, Narcossees, Le Cellier

I hear the Plaza is great and also Boma breakfast...going to both in Oct/Nov.

Although I have not been but planning on going for the next trip, I hear Cape May and Ohana breakfasts are great character ones.

Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace are very good too.

Hmmm, I could go on and on...hope this helps some. Have fun!

QS in MK - Columbia Harbour House, EP - Sunshine Seasons, Morocco, AK - Pizzafari or Flame Tree BBQ, HS - the only place we have eaten here for QS is Pizza Planet, we had a good experience with this, pizza was hot and fresh, but most people would disagree. DTD - Wolfgang puck express or Earl of Sandwich

TS in MK - Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch is my fav) Crystal Palace for breakfast, Cinderella`s Royal Table for the experience, food was OK.
EP- tons here, depends on what your preferences are. Le Cellier gets rave reviews, Coral Reef, we love Biergarten, Chef de France. HS - Sci Fi or 50 Prime Time. Sci Fi stick with burgers, my kids loved the experience,. AK- Tusker House (have not tried it, gets great reviews, esp breakfast) and Yak and Yeti (again never tried it, gets pretty good reviews)

Resorts - Contemporary - Chef Mickeys is a classic, Wave is excellent, California Grill is signature and yummy. Grand Floridian- Narcooseeès or Citricos for signature. Animal Kingdom Lodge - Boma or Jiko. Poly - Ohana

Ok now I am hungry!

CS

MK - Columbia Harbor House and Pecos Bill's

Epcot - Tangierine Cafe and Sunshine Seasons

DAK - Flame Tree

DTD - Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express

TS

Character Buffets - Crystal Palace and Tusker House or Cape May (similar characters) alao either Cinderella's Royal Table or Askerhaus princess dining if your girls are into that (mine was at that age)

Other Buffets - Boma and Biergarten

Other restaurants - Tokyo Dining, Rose and Crown, Raglan Road, Kona, The Wave

For signature dining, my favorite still continues to be Citricos. There are also always a good number of children there and the staff seems to do a great job of fussing over the kids and keeping them happy. They have a really cool dessert for kids too. They are little dog bone shaped chocolate eclairs. They will also put a dark chocolate edible tiara on the dessert plate of most kids. I thought they only did it for girls but my 14 y/o son got one on his dessert plate this year.

Excellent food and it has never been a disappointing meal.

Ooh, loads of great choices there. I love Earl of Sandwich so that was on my list anyway.

I'd always written Citricos off as not being child friendly particularly but I may have to give it a go after all.

I've actually only eaten at an handful of Disney restaurants so I am looking forward to trying some more.

Are there any child friendly sushi restaurants on site?

Ca Grill has very good sushi and I think, along with Narcoosees and Brown Derby, it's the signature where more children dine. I think it's much more child friendly than Citricos as it provides gorgeous views of the MK that the kiddos can enjoy while waiting for the food. It's also a bit noisier due to all of the glass and it's not as formal feeling as Citricos.

I don't recall any sushi at Narcoossee's unless you count tuna tartare.:rotfl2:

I've seen reviews of Kona and Tokyo Dining that have sushi, but I've never been to either other than breakfast at Kona.

Cosmic Rays (CS) in MK was very good and had things other then hamburgers. My husband got sushi at Teppon in Japan and said it was very good. The kids usually stay entertained there since they cook in front of you. Sci Fi is interesting for the kids but the same type of food you can get at a CS place.

We're just back from a 16 day stay at The World. I can highly recommend Yachtsman's Steakhouse followed closely by the Wave. I used to love Le Cellier but found the quality declined even though its popularity did not.

The Plaza was a disappointment this time - the veggie sandwiches were soggy yet the roasted veggies were nearly raw.

We also enjoyed Sanaa at AKV Kidani Village...you must love Indian-inspired food.

For QS, Earl of Sandwich never disappoints. We ate there 4 times on this trip because DD13 and I were dying for a decent cup of coffee - EoS has decaf Kona blend. We also enjoy Sunshine Seasons at The Land in Epcot. I always order the grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and kalamata olive pesto.

We tried the Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort for the first time and were disappointed. The mahi-mahi sandwich sounded great but the bun was so dry it fell apart. The desserts looked great but did not deliver on taste.

You're getting a lot of good restaurant suggestions and I have nothing to add there, I just wanted to pass along something that worked well for us when our kids were little. We kept a ziploc bag filled with small toys (usually small Disney characters) in our bag and only pulled them out when we were in restaurants. The kids loved to quietly play with them and they were kept occupied until the food came out. We only brought some of the characters we had and swapped them out on occasion, to keep the kids from getting bored with them. It worked like a charm!

Great advice about the ziplock bags. I will give that a try. Thank you.

About Cali Grill, I was considering it but then when I mentioned it, I was jumped on a told that it is not that great an idea to take young children there because it is fine dining and the kids would spoil everyone's evenings, including ours, apparently.

So, we pretty much resigned ourselves to spending our anniversary in our room and having room service that we could eat whilst sitting on our BWV balcony. We are, admittedly, hoping to get a fireworks view room.

Oh, so many choices!!
