Okay, call me crazy, but last October when we were there, we purchased 4 day park hopper plus tickets at the MK gates. I was expecting the nice, credit card type ticket. Instead, I was handed a flimsy paper ticket. When I asked about this, the CM said the plastic tickets are only issued to those staying at one of the Disney Resorts, as it is their room key also. So, I sadly accepted the paper ticket. This turned out to be a nightmare, as the name of the individual isn't printed on it, just the type of ticket it is, adult or child. We had several experiences with using the wrong ticket for the wrong person and then having to spend time changing it. So, can anyone out there tell me if I am not staying on site, where can I purchase the plastic credit card type tickets?

If I am stuck with the paper ones, can anyone tell me if you are able to laminate these? I guess I could write the name of the person on the card and then I wouldn't get confused.

You can't and I believe they are Tyvek-like material not paper.

Since MYW are person spcific and have to be read by the biometric reader I would not lamiate my ticket.

YOu could get little plastic pouches to put them in. You know the ones people talk about that you get at Walmart..... in the sports dept.
We put ours in those last year and had them on our Lanyard. You could also just keep them in there and write the persons name on them or maybe even write it on the ticket.

You can get plastic tickets if you get a key to the world card. This would put your park pass and room key on the same card. That is your only option. If you have already purchased them, then yes, you are stuck with them.

I purchased our tickets online directly from Disney and they are plastic. Each one has a different character on it so you know whose is whose... we got Minnie, Goofy, and Donald.

Our Park Hopper tickets and our MVMCP tickets from 2003 were lovely thick plastic like credit cards, we were staying *off property*. They had characters on the front, they were just lovely.

::yes:: i just bought a ticket for my dh online and it is plastic - like a credit card.

Can the heavy paper like tickets be transfered to a resort key?

I got my tickets already at AAA but we are staying at the CR.

I've received both plastic and "paper" tickets and never had a problem with either one. If you're entering the park as a group and you (an adult) use your child's pass by mistake, most CMs will acknowledge that there are a sufficient number of adult passes to admit everyone.

The only confusion that I can see would be when the family splits up, going to different parks and there are not enough "adult" passes to cover all of the "adults" in the subgroup. This is easily remedied by checking the back of the pass to see whether it belongs to an adult or child before handing them out.

I don't see this as any more inconvenient than checking the names on the plastic passes (which, by the way, will not have a name on them either unless they are your room keys).

We each have paper-like APs we use all year, and a lot. Never a problem.
I agree that I like plastic type tickets better. But, they are more bulky too.
I try not to use a fanny pack or bag and carry my pass, cards, etc in a FP clear carry pouch.

I have a mix of paper & plastic old hopper passes, and I much prefer the paper because I can write on them to keep track of how many days are left.

I want to know this too, please.
I've always had the "paper" ticket as an AP...but calling them paper is really wrong...they aren't...We have never had a problem with the ticket lasting. Once or twice not working...but I've since people with the credit card tickets not working...it's a matter of not reading the magnetic strip...

aren't the tickets you purchase in the Disney Store plastic too?? I didn't look at them closely, but it looked like they were. But that wouldn't help with telling them apart, sounds like ordering direct from Disneyworld.com is your best bet for the different characters.

Maybe GoldenOldie can correct me if I'm wrong, hehe, but I think the new MYW tickets all have the name of the person on them, so there's no problem of which ticket belongs to whom anymore. But, I don't know if those are paper or plastic. The park hoppers were paper unless you ordered them from the Disney Store or online. The annual passes are definitely paper (well, except for one year around 98 when they were a real thin plastic that looked like paper- I tried to tear it after it expired, and could not tear it in half, but it stretched, and realized it was completely plastic).

How about if you buy an AP while checking in at the resort? Would the resort key also become your AP, thereby being hard plastic? Or would you get a resort key in plastic and a paper-type AP?
