My dh currently drives a 1995 Ford F150 pickup. He's hinting that it may be time for a new one, repairs, etc.

So what are you all driving? He wants a 4 door crew cab, anyone have any experience with them? We need the room for our 2 kids. :)

We have a 1998 F250. Gotta love those fords!

Why not get a hummer? :D

Guess what I drive? A 2001 F-150 SuperCrew. The back seat has a ton of room for even adults. I didn't get the Lariat package as it moved me too far left and put the post in my line of site. It has adjustable pedals so DW and DS19 can drive it comfortably. I have the tow package and the 5.4L engine, no problems so far. Gas mileage is 13.5 in the city, 16-17 on the highway (85mph).

One drawback is that the bed is short. OK for most things, but I keep a set of straps. There is a cage that extends the bed by 18 inches. I use the bed for gardening, brush, camping, move the boy to college, etc.

He might want to consider the F250 Crew Cab. It is a bit harder to park though. The F150 is basically just like the Expedition in size.

PM me if you want more info.

was very good for us......but this new 2003 Chevy Silverado four door is something else.....it is confortable in the back even.....went three hundred miles in the back so my mother in law could sit up front...we had an issue with the air bag at one hundred miles and then again...but it seems to be okey.....it is a very very nice riding vehicle...almost forgot that the back end is huge ...we usually take our Four wheeler with us to go riding and hunting.....so needed this extra room

DH sold his jeep wrangler and bought a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab. What a difference! It's HUGE!!!

From the backseat DS said, "It's so big back here I can't even smell her." and he pointed to his sister who was also in the backseat.

We also have a 2003 Silverado. Excellent truck. Lots of room in the back seat. We'll be driving it to WDW in just a few short weeks. I'm expecting it will get us there with no problems.:D

I have a Nissan 4X4 Frontier Crewcab. We love it! It rides smoother than most cars, and it's not so high up that I feel like I'm driving a truck, but it's not too short either. All 4 of us have plenty of leg room. The bench backseat sits up about as high as the bucket front seats, so the kids get to see out just fine (my previous car, they couldn't see out the windows too well because the seat was so low).

My mom has a Silverado and it's nice, but it's a 3 door. It's rough to be in the back and have to wait for the front passenger to get out before we can get out. It has little leg room in the back too. I like the temperature controls in the back that it has though.:) When I have to drive it, I feel like I'm driving a limo, that thing is too long for me.

Good luck choosing, Debbie.:)

We have a 2003 F150 4 door super crew. We absolutely love it. We previously had a 1997 F150 XL and it was a great truck but dh wanted to upgrade a little and like your older Ford, it need a few repairs, new tires, brakes etc. Figured it was a good time to get a new one. My dh loves the new one. The back seat has plenty of room and I am "pooh sized" and am very comfortable there. My dbil has the Dodge Ram 1500 4 door and although it is a nice truck also, imo, the Ford has more back seat room and the back seat is much more comfortable. Buz was correct when he said that the truck bed is kind of short, but you will still be able to haul brush, yard waste etc with no problem. It would not hold a full 8' sheet of plywood too well but how often does anyone have to deal with larger items like that?

Good luck with whatever you purchase.

Nancy

We traded in DH's 1995 Ford F150 in January and he got a 2003 Dodge Ram 4 Door. He LOVES it!!! I have to admit that I kinda like it too. We were torn between getting an SUV (I already have one) or another pickup and we just like having the pickup in case he needs to move anything... family and friends like that too :p

I drive a 1998 Chevy Silverado ext cab (3rd door), and we have taken several long trips in it. Both my kids are over 6 feet, and we have never had a problem. I prefer to have my son drive so I can sit in the back seat and read. My son has a 1998 Dodge quad cab which also has a lot of room except for the sub woofer box in the back seat!

We had a 2001 Ford Supercrew. We decided to downsize our car payment and gas bill. I really miss our truck. I think you would be quite happy with the supercrew.

We just bought a 2003 Ford F-150 XLT 4 X 4 Super Cab, 2 weeks ago, and we LOVE it. Just today we installed polished stainless steel step tubes, and have a bed liner and tonneu cover on order for it. It's big, black, and gorgeous! :)

We had a Ford Ranger but my DSs outgrew those jump seats within a very short time period. The nerve of them growing. LOL ;) I've ridden in the back seat of our new F-150 and it's very comfortable.

I drive a 2002 Ford F-150 Supercrew XLT 4X4 that I got just about a year ago. My last truck was a 1999 F-250 Super Duty V-10 4X4 Extended cab. The F-150 rides soooooooooo much better. I've had a bunch of trucks since 1975 (Chevy, GMC & Ford) and this is the best truck ever.
