I need new cookware and would love suggestions

My two Emeril saucepans have the glass lids and I agree, they are HEAVY! I have shoulder trouble now and find its pushing the envelope with them, the LeCreuset ovals and cassoulet are almost impossible to lift. It's a shame too because I love them. Even the LC stoneware casserole dishes are mega heavy. I have a huge oval one with lid and it's a beast. I wish I knew what happened to my moms revereware pots, they were great!

We used/use kitchenaid hard anodized cookware and it has lasted 8 years and is still going. We recently added a circulon (sp) set of the same material and love cooking with them. We purchased Cook's stainless and copper and returned them because even following the very specific directions they were awful.

I never thought I would get away from tephlon pans, but after thinking a slightly more expensive set, Emeril, would do the trick, I discovered it was crap in less than a year even using plastic utensils and hand washing with the soft side of the sponge. I had already tried Calphalon hard anodized but after 5 years the coating died and began sticking.

I wanted a set that was stainless steel (no tephlon coating of any kind). I wanted a set that was heavy duty and would last me forever. I did my research and found tramontina tri-ply to be just as good in reviews as All-Clad. It is true. I purchased mine through Wal-Mart and have been so impressed that they are very heavy and I don't need to ever use the high setting on the burners anymore. Barely a flame on the gas stove can maintain a hard boil on a 4 qt pot of water.

There was an Emeril set that was made by All Clad a while back. Do yours have glass lids?

I have too many pots and pans. I've kept my original Farberware and Revereware. I own 22 pieces of All Clad. I have some Calphalon pieces. I also have many Le Creuset pieces, along with interesting pieces I buy because I like the look or the color.

I love that there are others on here who still value their older Farberware and Revereware. My first set was a 10 piece FW set for 59.99, back in the 70ties. Than I found a RW set on sale for about 30$ and bought it because I liked the copper bottoms! They still polish up nicely after all these years and cook well.

I got these in 2004 and yes they do have the glass lids. I think they are All Clad.

I am trying to find All-Clad D5 pieces for a gift for a relative. I haven't found them anywhere except Williams Sonoma and they are never marked down much. Any suggestions appreciated. Another type of All-Clad won't do for this person.

You can find All-Clad D5 at Cutlery and More.com and at Amazon

I bought the Paula Deen cookware set about 6 months ago and LOVE IT!! I see on BF Walmart is going to have it on sale for $87 a 20 piece set!

I have been looking for new cookware, also. I saw that set, it's good to see that you like your PD. I had been considering asking DH for a set for Christmas....we really need to buy USEFUL stuff this year LOL...and I thought that set might be perfect!

I have a set of non stick cookware that I got years ago for christmas, but now I'm loving stainless steel. I'm currently using a couple of small faberware pans that were my grandmother's from ages ago.

My aunt has Belgique set that she bought back in the 80's. Originally made in Belgium, but now it's all made in China with poor quality in comparison. I find glass lids a pain, because the fog up as it is, so you have to take it off anyways to check on the food. The rim just never comes clean.

Older stuff (from high quality lines) are much better than those brands that are made today. So just check to see if the company still manufactures the product the same way or if they've moved it to China.

I'm also kicking myself for not picking up a Calphalon stainless 12" skillet I saw at a thrift store. It was in very good condition, but marked at $20, and a bit more than what I had on hand.

I did some research last night, and found EXCELLENT reviews on this set also. I'm thinking of asking for them for Christmas since they are affordable!
