Is it just me or do all families go nuts at holiday's? My mom decided we had to go out of town for turkey day to aviod another holiday melt down by my sister, so off we go on Thursday for two days at the beach. Then my mother-in get hospitalized for a kink in her intestines, work is nuts.............

Twenty two days till disney and tonight my dd (7 and 1/2) decides she doesn't want to fly (I am not driving) and doesn't like high places and doesn't want to stay on a high floor at PP....Oh well, she'll have to get over her new fear of hights.......

Disney, take me away.......

Believe me I know how you are feeling... I am SO Ready for Disney!

I am now under a month....LOL That's my countdown. I'm going to visit my family for Thanksgiving, normally my older sis freaks out and we get into some kind of fight (personally I think she's jealous of me, my life, my happiness) and I end up crying, she ends of storming off and Grandma runs out the door after her. LOL It's a mess...hopefully that won't happen this year, this year we are eating at her house....I want my turkey darnit! LOL I do love my family but sometimes the drama reminds me why I live 10 hours away. LOL

To the OP, with your DD's fear, do NOT take her in the glass elevator. I don't normally have that big a problem with heights, but the elevator nearly spurred an anxiety attack. :scared: And try to not have a room where the route to it takes you along what I can only describe as a "sky walk" with biiiiiiig glass windows all along it. Can't help ya with the flying thing, and she might be a bit young to talk about the relative, statistical, safety of flying vs driving from Oregon to CA (especially the Siskyous, yikes!).

oh yes... talk about hectic here too! Each one of us has been sick, this week my poor dh got pneumonia! FINALLY....he is feeling better with an Rx from the dr. We leave tomorrow.

Hopefully everything will go smoothly until your trip!

Abby,
I know how you feel. Last time I was in DL my knees blew out,:scared1: so here I am trying to go to several DOCs and listen to all that they want to do and my Ann is on Thanksgiving day also DMIL bday and DSIL 50th bday and then we start into christmas which I love very very much, but there's that huge butt, I thought I would be crazy and do a cookie exchange the 1st of Dec,,,,and my DS turns sweet and wonderful 16. :cool2: Wow time flies. This year I am trying to relax and just have fun instead of trying to do every thing myself! ( Thats right I have come to the horroring conclusion I will never be Martha.) I know where I can place all my fears and doughts though. My GOD is my rock so I try to stay on that rock. You know that I am deathly afraid of heights but being on the high floor I love because I look out---across the wonderful magic of DL or DCA.

Oh, I know what you mean Abby.

Holidays bring out the CRAZIES! It's a fact! I know the fights and drama aren't really very fun to go through, but for some reason when these things happen in my family, I picture watching it take place in a movie, and then I start getting the giggles and laughing histerically. All of a sudden I picture my mom, who's currently having a meltdown about how the turkey is being served, is being played by Shirley McClain. My brother, who's had a few too many beers and is sitting on the couch, watching the game while scratching his privates, starts yelling, "Ma, the turkey is fine for crying out loud! I'm starvin'! C'mon!", is being played by John Travolta. And so on and so forth. My dad is always Jack Lemmon, my DH is always Tom Hanks, my DS8 is a little Forest Gump, and my DS4 is a little Chris Farley.

Anyway, I can't help but think "Boy, if I was watching this unfold in a movie, I'd be laughing SO HARD!", and that's when I get the giggles. My family thinks I'm nuts! I think maybe they're right!:goodvibes

I'm not sure what to tell you about your daughter other than it's probably just a phase. I wouldn't make a big deal about it with her. Just go about your business with flying, checking into your room, and so on, as if everything is hunky-dory. Hopefully she'll be so excited that she'll forget about all the "scared of heights" business.:)
