I Need Meal Help ASAP

Thank you to all that replied. I've got some great ideas. He's from our of state and wasn't able to be with his family. This is his first Thanksgiving away from home and I just want to make him feel welcome.

SOrry for the confusion. I sometimes use that phrase when I really meant people pleasing. He's very sweet I just wanted a few ideas. My family tends to enjoy spicy food and we make it a few times each week...I was just looking for some options
:flower3: You are very kind to agree to host him; I'm betting that simply being embraced as a part of your family for the holiday will mean more than any specific meal. Just be yourselves and let him comfortably share your time together. Sometimes less is more, meaning that it might actually make him fee self-conscious if you "make a fuss". I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving!

My current spouse told me that when we 1st started dating too many years ago...I found out a few years into our marriage that his real reason was he was head over heels in love with me and just couldn't stand the thought of not seeing me for a week (and his mom was probably a little disappointed, although I'm sure our later marriage and grandkids made her feel better:)...

Pasta is always my go-to since most people like it. Thanksgiving leftovers, breakfast for dinner, steak. I saw another person mention chicken kabobs and I think that's a great idea.

Why not make what you would normally make each night. A college kid will enjoy a good home cooked meal. I don't see the need to make anything different unless he/she has a food allergy.

College kids really appreciate a home cooked meal... so whatever you cook will be fine. I would keep some bagels & cream cheese, bananas, apples, make some muffins, pop tarts, juice & milk and such for breakfast...deli meat and cheese and bread for sandwiches, maybe make a huge bowl of pasta salad, once gone.. go with potato salad, for lunches, Lots of chips, crackers, dips, cut up veggies, hummus, guacamole, salsa. For dinners use your crock pot, chili and grilled cheese, shredded pork or chicken for tacos or other Mexican inspired dishes, homemade soup. This way you don't have to have a formal meals, just eat when your here and clean up after yourself.

Also washing clothes is a big thing, extra laundry detergent would be on my list. If they are driving maybe a couple of cheapo clothes baskets, to take the clean stuff back to school in.

I would tell your daughter and her friend what you expect as far as keeping up and helping in the kitchen with cleaning and trash, cleaning the bedrooms & bathrooms, and being respectful of coming in at all hours of the night. Just be up front and things will go smoother.

When my DD was in college and she and her friends were in and out thats how I did it.. Lots of grab and go items...
