I wasn't sure where to put this thread, but I linger on the resort boards a lot so I thought I would go for it here....I really just need some encouragement, sorry this is kind of long!

This July my parents told me they wanted me to plan a Disney vacation for them, my older sister, and myself. It would be our first family vacation in quite some time since we both moved out of the house. So I went into planning mode. I booked a one bedroom Beach Club Villa for 6 nights, and made ADR's at some of our favorite restaurants (San Angel Inn, Brown Derby, and Tony's), and at some new ones (Cinderella's Royal Table, Akershus, Marrakesh). I know some people plan their Disney vacations years in advance, and even though mine was only 6 months away it seemed like ages. We were all set to go Jan. 3-9th. I was at the 24 day mark when my mom's car died. She now needs to buy a new car and can't afford a Disney trip so we are probably going to cancel. We are still deciding. I was soooo excited for this trip, it was all that was getting me through a really difficult year and this is so heartbreaking. I am extremely sad and upset and disappointed at the same time. I am just hoping and praying that we will still get to go, but it isn't looking hopeful...

I'm so sorry your plans have been ruined, especially when you've been anticipating this trip for so long. Is there anyway you can downgrade things a little, maybe stay at a less expensive hotel and still afford to go?

I'm so sorry to hear that your trip maybe off. Is there anyway that you can change your plans (accomodations, restaurant choices, adding/deleting dining plan) to reduce your costs?

If you don't get to go, just remember that Disney will still be there and you can have a magical vacation with your family in the near future!

Sorry to hear this. Talk with your mom and see if you all might still be able to swing the trip with a few changes, like changing to a value resort. Hope the rest of the year gets much, much better for you.

It looks like I won't be back to WDW until January 2007! I had sooo been looking forward to this trip, but it looks like it will be cancelled for sure. I am trying to explain to my family that monetarily it is unwise to cancel. We have airline tickets, we booked through DVC (what will happen to our points?), etc., etc. Right now I am just really bummed.
