Hubby and I have hit a rough spot in our marriage...been married 9 years 2 kids and we have fell into the mommy daddy role ...working role....and have lost site of one another...We would like to get away for a nice lets find each other again weekend...4-5 days long...any help would be appreciated..we are open to just about anywhere ...would like to spend time outside ..site seeing ..laid back atmosphere...Thanks for your help!!!

I think you should drive north, to Michigan! If you're looking for the "great outdoors" we've got lots to see and do. The west side of the state has lots of beach towns, lighthouses, and *the* most beautiful sunsets. You can even go up to Traverse City to the Grand Traverse Resort...romantic setting, beautiful resort, and a winery!

Or, on the east side of the state, make your way up to Mackinaw Island for a relaxing step back in time to the victorian era...beautiful old HUGE houses, a British fort to explore, and NO CARS, just gorgeous horses, bikes, and TONS of trails to explore. Stay at the Windermere Hotel...no TV in your room & beautiful view of the Mackinac Bridge and the lake ~ you'll think of something to do to pass the time! =)

No matter where you go, here's to putting more romance into your marriage!!!! :love2:

usually these types of weekends are for anything EXCEPT being 'outdoors'...........lol. Good luck tho.

Go buy or check out Dr. Laura's "Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands".

Great book for getting your marriage back on track! It is nothing new, just plain ole' common sense stuff. Little things, that make a huge impact.

As far as going somewhere, no matter where you go you take yourself with you.:teeth:
So best to get back on track and then go...;)

Sorry you hit the rough spot. Did that more than once. My kids are 9 & 15 now and our marriage is GREAT!
Feels like we are dating again.

How far are you willing to go?
If location is no object, think about Old St. Augustine. There are many beautiful B&Bs, any kind of restaurant you can imagine, wonderful stores, museums, all in the oldest city in the US.
I forgot to mention the horse drawn carriages, can't get much more romantic than that.
If you're wanting something more fun, they also have several ghost tours.

I love the North Shore of Minnesota, along Lake Superior. Duluth, Grand Marais, Lutsen....
I'd think the UP of Michigan would be nice too. How about Mackinac Island?

Some options:

Fly from CVG to Atlantic City, NJ. You get a little bit of everything. There are of course the casinos with gambling and headliner entertainment and great dining, but there's also relaxing strolls on the boardwalk, and of course miles and miles of relaxing beach on the Atlantic Ocean.

Drive several hours north to Cleveland. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is about my favorite building in the country. You can easily spend 5 or 6 hours or more in there. Plus there are beaches on Lake Erie, plus great nightlife and dining, as well.

Look around on a generic B&B website for B&Bs about 2-3 hours' drive from where you live. It really doesn't matter where, it's just getting away without the kids, without little ones who are pulling on you every second, without lunches to make and chores to do, etc. My wife and I are getting away next weekend, for our 15th anniversary, to a B&B on the Chesapeake Bay about 3 hours from us. We have a 6 year old and a 3 year old, and we've gotten away without them only twice since they've been around. You really need to do it every now and then if you can, not just in reaction to a problem but to PREVENT problems.

Good luck.

Upstate NY has a lot of beautiful wineries with bed and breakfasts. Look by the fingerlakes. Absolutley beautiful scenery lots of nice people and the wine helps too!

Good luck with everything. Just remember why you fell in love with him in the first place...
