I need ideas for lunch in the park

You can pack a soft-sided cooler with lunchmeats, cheese, cold drinks, etc. Buy some bread or a big bag of chips to take along. If you don't want to carry it around, you can rent a locker near the front of the park to stash it until lunch time. I'm not sure what the locker prices are now but when some friends and I did this a few years ago, it was $5.

We take fruit snacks, crackers, uncrustables (pbj, sorry). We have done other sandwiches, chips, fruit, beef jerky, etc. anything that will keep and can be stored in a backpack. Freeze the fruit, beverages, etc and it unthaws and is great by lunch.

If you are taking a cooler, you can also take cheese, pepperoni, and crackers. Also, hummus and pita and carrots. Instead of sandwiches on bread, you can make wraps or mini subs, too.

We usually just take snacks so we take granola bars, graham crackers, raisins, goldfish crackers, or ritz bits.

You can take almost anything as long as you have a soft-sided cooler to keep it cold. I would just make sure to do most of the prep ahead of time. It's much easier to pull out pre-made, wrapped sandwich rather than trying to assemble them on a bench. Perhaps bagels with cream cheese, tortilla wraps, or pitas stuffed with meat and cheese or veggies would be good. You could also bring sliced meat and cheese with crackers (make your own Lunchables), veggies and hummus, sliced apples, bags of chips, etc. You can freeze water bottles and use them to keep things cool. Then drink the water when it thaws.

We like cold fried chicken from Publix with coleslaw. We also use a soft sided cooler. I never make thos at home so it is kind of a treat whenever we vacation.

Eating park food gets old very quick. Great ideas, healthier, less money and less waste :)

tuna in foil packets with crackers - grab mayo packets at a counter service or bring from home. we use a collapsible Tupperware to mix but you can also get a paper bowl at a counter service.

Our grocery store has the tuna packets with mayo added-- ready to eat

We also save money by bringing food into the parks but we usually just take snacks. Whole fruit, dried fruit, nuts, granola bars, etc. We leave most of our other food (cheese, bagels, etc) in the room to have for breakfast, afternoon break, and nighttime snacks.

Especially when we go during a hotter time, my family prefers to snack and share a few CS rather than eat large meals.

Tuna salad kits, chicken salad, cut up fruit in plastic containers or grapes or other easy to take along fruit. Veggies and dip, apples and dip, egg sandwiches.

On our most recent trip (June 29 - July 2) we made Italian wraps to take into the parks. We drove so we brought some things and made a quick trip to the grocery store in town before hitting the resort.

It didn't take much time in the morning to make. Salami, ham, provolone, pickles, and baby spinach. Assemble, wrap, and wrap the wrap in saran wrap to keep tight. We brought a small, soft-sided cooler that perfectly fit 3 wraps and 3 bags of chips. We also brought good traveling fruit (like grapes/citrus). We grabbed condiments from the CSs to use for the wraps.

I thought the money savings would be great, but my favorite part was how easy it was to eat when we wanted. It was a fast trip and we only went to DHS and AK. In DHS, we ate while waiting for the Indiana Jones show to start. In AK, we picked a place down by the water in the Flametree BBQ patios. So very handy! I loved not having to stand in line and wait for food.

btw...one reason we picked Italian is because we felt the most comfortable with that meat selection without ice packs, etc. We kept the meats/cheese/spinach in the fridge. The wraps started cold and we still cold when we ate them. No worries.
