OK Folks, it's that time of year again. We need to find host families for 20+ new kids from Belarus. These children come from a very poor environment that is contaminated from the Chernobyl Fallout. Everything they eat and drink is contaminated with Radiation. Most families live on about $100-200 a month and food there is NOT cheap. So, they have to grow most everything they eat, which means it's grown in contaminated soil and puts even more radiation into their bodies. Many of the children have never been to the dentist and many suffer from malnoutrition. I know this is a scary request. How can I have a child in my home for 6 weeks, grow to love them and then send them back to their home? It's not easy, but you can rehost the same child every year until they are 18 years old. They become a part of your family and you can be assured that they are going home to a loving family of their own. Can you imagine how hard it must be there for their families to be willing to send them thousands of miles from home to live with strangers?
